View Full Version : Firm info about dates please

Dear All,

Ok, most of the fans have wandered away from this forum because it now seems to be somehwere for the teams to banter. You seem to be finding it a pretty good wheeze to dangling your hook and bait for those few of us that are left with your little snippets of 'There's something really good to come' and similar from Gasman and racing59 to name a couple, with Duane assuring us there is going to be a busy couple of months. 'We know lots of things but we can't tell you'. All very reminiscent of the new cars we kept hearing about that never quite made it to the grid, but still we hung on in there, happy to part with our cash to support you racers and try and help the series grow. Unfortunately I start to get the feeling that actually most of the folk on the forum now aren't much interested in the fans - it's a bit of a team club these days.

Situation now is that I'm still prepared to support what I can (both SCSA and Pickups), I was planning to go to the Powernights, but now it seems they're gone. So, it's back to the weekend calendar.

The problem now is that the willing fans need information so that we can try and be free to support you, but Church rota's are being planned and I can't say when I'm not available so I won't have any choice about which sundays are free, holidays need booking, visits to relatives etc etc - On behalf of the remaining fans who look at the forum - any idea when we might get some concrete information please? Pretty please?

Thank you.

By the end of this week, Duane should be made the announcement.

I know how frustrating it is for everyone, it is for us as well as we're trying to sort out and put on the best possible show for the fans, (who are still by far the most important element to V8 Trophy,) but it is hard for Duane and co as the racing establishment isn't exactly on our side and no one gets paid to do this full time.

The fan base, which was dwindleing last season could well be virtually non existant this.

There are still fans here, but i do agree with the views of White Lady. We still keep looking hoping for positive info. - but maybe not as often as before.

Still, fingers crossed........

I too worry about that, but unfortunately I don't have the power to do anything about it. All I can do is ask for people to wait just a little while longer until Duane finalises and releases the plans and dates, we never made the decision to leave Rockingham, it was made for us.

if i could i would, comes to mind.

Feb 1st is my self impossed deadline, hopefully before, all will become clear very soon and to why it has taken so long, things have changed in the last two weeks as such the dates we were looking at earlier in the month are now history...............Frustratingly Exciting also comes to mind !!!!!!!!

And the tippex bottle is still having a good shake, just in case.

It's frustrating for me as well. Most marshals simply can't wait until March to finalise our calendars. I'm still holding out hope that by some fluke I may have picked out meetings where SCSA are likely to appear. If I haven't, it's going to be a pain trying to re-juggle commitments.

hmmm - donuts

The fan base, which was dwindleing last season could well be virtually non existant this.

Despite not having posted for a while, I'm still very much a fan - and as in previous years I will get to as many SCSA meetings as possible. Part of the reason for not posting recently is that so many postings lately have been somewhat negative or have degenerated into negativity and that's not a trip I want to get involved in. Hopfully new circuits will mean bring SCSA to the attention of new audiences, and will gain new fans. As much as I loved watching SCSA on the oval, I always felt that racing exclusively at one circuit was a limiting factor in attracting a fan base, and that attendance would be limited to a hard core of fans who would be prepared to travel quite some distance (in my case from Sussex), and locals. So I reckon more circuits can only be a good thing.

Also, heartfelt thanks to all those who have been working to keep the series going.

Regards

My frustrations are only minor and to do with what we've lost, not with what we're gaining which is definately good. If both could be accomodated in some fashion then I'd be as happy as a monkey in a banana tree.

Would be nice if its running all over Europe.......eg,
Rockingham/Brands, England
Pembrey, WALES!!!
Knockhill, Scotland,
Mondello, Ireland,
Lausitz, Germany.
That's 5 already! How about being supports for the new Speedcar series in Asia too??

Just a thought! Think positive! ;)

Ideally I'd like to know the dates too - need to know what I'm doing regarding photography and also it's frustrating not being able to plan much beyond mid-march. I have several stewarding engagements at cat shows waiting on race dates.

How about being Speedcar-UK!!

No need to get sand in your toes, and you can watch the race having a beer/wine/short without the threat of being arrested and flogged.

No need to have put up with tropical humidity, temperatures, and nasty johnny foreigner diseases requiring equally horrid innoculations.

No need to queue in airports for hours and hours making sure that you don't have any bottles bigger than 100ml (even though you can buy 3litre ones in the depature lounge!).

You can come and watch us at British circuits. Where the sun always shines (you can't see it for the cloud and rain!), and the wind off the north sea is actually just above freezing, and generally below force 9.

Yahey!

Yes, we're going international. We're going to the other side of London!
Ethnic Hamshirians, and Men of Kent, be prepared to be wowwed by the thunder that is coming.

(am I talking this up a bit...???)

One winner, forty two losers..... (slap!), sorry, wrong script.

I shall stop now, before I dig the hole any bigger.

ARRRGGHHHHHHHH don't mention speedcar!!! I am looking forward to hear the sound of Thunder again where ever we may go!!!

How true. I have been Chief Pit for SCSA(etc) and Deputy to Dave (ahhh, Dave & Sue... remember them?) for many years now, and need to know dates ASAP.

I realise the difficulty, but at least give me a clue so I can pencil in the dates - if they aren't already booked.

When you are as sort after as 'moi' then it's "first come first served" I afraid - or make me an offer I can't refuse :)

Asia, not Middle East. I do belive there's a nice new track in Thailand just down the road from Pattaya!!!
(damn, the nearest they go is Sepang)

Ahh Thailand. Fabulous. Malaria drugs, ladyboys, Gary Glitter on tour, and Saville Row suits with the very latest fabric for £30 ready by dinner from the tailor at the Grand Hotel in Bangkok.

Bearing in mind that Speedcar spends 60% of it's time in the Middle East, with Dubai, and Bahrain taking three of the five dates.

Just a shame that you can't take Concorde to Bahrain anymore.

Rob.

I think you mean "Gasman#99" rather than my good self "Gasman".

I've spent years reading those sort of comments with increasing frustration, but they're not my style at all.

Just thought that I should put the record straight, thanks.

Let's just say, what we have now is much better then what the plans were a month or so ago, (which can be found by browsing through this forum).

As soon as Duane has finished up he'll give everyone a reason to jump back on the V8 Trophy bandwagon.

Dave, the dates are now in and I for one am delighted. Thanks Duane for all your hard work, (and John,) you've done us proud once again. Any chance of us visiting 1 powernights meeting though as I think that could bring some extra publicity for the series, even if it's not counted as part of the 2008 series.

Nick Brad
2nd February 2008, 09:51
One thing I would like to say to the downers, it's the 2nd of february, we have a large grids of cars, a full race schedule, what more do you want? When was the last time the V8 Trophy was in such good shape by this time of year?

Abo
2nd February 2008, 11:28
we have a large grids of cars

Who so far has declared their intentions?

Nick Brad
2nd February 2008, 16:28
Well, most of the usual subjects from Trophy should be on track, together with what's always good grids for VSRs, then throw in all the Eurocars into the mix, I'd be shocked if there's grids of less than 30 this year at any of the events.

foxystoat
2nd February 2008, 16:57
