This is early, but next week I shall be returning to University, and wanted to make sure that I posted the details of this round, and gave everyone a good chance to complete it.

PM me your times before Friday January 19 2007 2200 GMT. Feel free to complete this round at any time that suits you in the next 11 days. Please clearly mark your PM with Castle Combe though, to make it easier to compile the Oulton round!

I hope no one objects to me posting this round slightly earlier than was planned!

Here are the round details.

Race 1 3 laps
Race 2 5 laps
Race 3 4 laps

Qualifying is 5 minutes per race, and everyone should, as usual, be using the UK Renault Clio Cup car, without upgrades!

As usual I need your qualifying time, race time, and fastest lap for each of the above events. Good luck!

yeah! we're running a track I already know this round! I don't like this track, but at least I know it! :D

Recieved Neil Adams times. This round is going to be so close I think.

well, I found some speed in my car! I may even move up the grid a little bit at the next stop on the tour.

I made some changes to the car that seemed to help. I guess you can't set up a front-driver the same way you set up a RWD car, huh? (duh!)

when I was through practicing last night, just for fun I bolted on some upgrades & hit time trial mode to see if I could crack the first page of the codies hall of fame. I managed to turn a 53.78, missing the first page of the HoF by .01 second.

but, I was happy to have some of my hard work pay off by finding some speed in the car!

the upgrades do make quite a difference, but I'm glad we run the series without them because there's just wayyy too many options. I think if we allowed upgrades it would be more about who picked the right parts than who can set-up and drive the best.

anyone know what kind of pace I should be looking for in the race?

i was around 56-57 a lap mark..no idea if that'll be good enough. i dont particulary like this circuit..the chicanes are kinda fiddly..although you can chuck the car around and it still sticks which helps.

johnny shell
17th January 2007, 18:29
I think that's about what I was running in race trim.

yeah, those chicanes are a bitch.

when it comes to those I got one tip for you - curb hopping. those orange poles that they have on the kerbing - I aim straight for 'em.

real_illusions
17th January 2007, 18:37
yeah...you can curb hop real good here..they are flat and dont wreck your car unlike other curbs on other circuits..like the outside of turn 1 at oulton.

I think I ran 55-56s.

I'm hoping to join this round...if not, then definitely from next round :)

ran my races last night. ran good consistant laps, too. problem is, I sure wasn't in the 55-56 range!

I wonder if I can slip a new ECU by the tech man at the next round... hmmmm.....

just did my races, I ran in the 55's to low 56's so hoping for good results

Managed to squeeze the races in last night. Pretty happy with the runs with consistent lap times.

8 entries so far. Including a new one.

thanks alfa. I'm going to write down my set-up over the weekend & post it on here monday to see if anyone notices anything drastically wrong. I know I'm not fast, but I would like to at least move up to finishing mid-field!

I mean I'm having fun & learning and enjoying the competition and all that good stuff, but no one likes finishing last week in and week out!

maybe this is a test to teach me how to better deal with public humiliation.

just being dramatic.

It's also a tricky little track - might seem fairly simple, but the lines are important for maximum speed in the slower cars. The GT's round here are a bit different.

I'm not too confident here. In the last qualifying session I found a burst of speed that took 1/2 a second off my time. I bet Vuko will have had the ultimate pace in every race. It seems that I'm getting slower with every race. (bratch- 3wins, Eastern creek-1win, Oulton-0wins.(Castle Combe- last?) )

I predict that Vuko will win again and homer (as well as othes) will take points off me. Increasing the Aussies series lead.

whats going on, one says 2-4-2, another is saying 5-4-2.

but Homer, damn you, why did you have to be so damn fast :p :

I'll take two podium finishes this week :D

Wow 5-3-5 my first podium of the season and hopefully not the last. Also two front rows. Next target pole position and win me thinks. :D 3rd place overall is looking doable.

it looks doable until Homer comes flying in with more 99 point race weekends

Well that's my worst result for a long time! Just shows that a poor preparation does affect your drive - damn those vistors!! Well done by Homer. I'll have to work harder next Rd. Hey Alpha, how about for a change next Rd you allow the standard engineers upgrades & up the A.I to 110%. What do you guys reckon?

Peter Vuko
21st January 2007, 02:00
Just looked at the calendar - it shows the next Rd is in late March!! Is this right? That's an 8 week break!

Alfa Fan
21st January 2007, 02:10
It is correct. I am running it in sections due to me being at university. I cannot run any races during that period, thus I am scheduling it for times when I am able to race. (ie Christmas holiday - Easter holiday - Summer holiday).

I hope thats OK.
