There is an unnofficial testing session going on right now at Queensland Raceway for the V8 cars in pro-sim mode.
If you want to get an idea of where you stand in preperation for the first-ever pro-sim V8 championship, run a few laps of the easy to learn circuit in time trial mode and post your times.
The only rule is mandatory 50% tire hardness, to better recreate race conditions.
The session will continue until the next round of the GT championship begins.

Sounds like a good idea Johnny! I'll have a go in a few days... I've got the final Rd of the WRC4 in Australia to complete by Friday...if I win the Rd I win the series...great fun!!! I hope we get a few drivers trying to race on pro-sim..its so rewarding when you get used to it...I wonder if Piotr B can produce good times in pro- sim....there's a challenge!!!!

Yes, we'll see :) . To be honest I have a experience with Pro-Sim because I play a lot online with players who also like Pro-Sim so I guess that's no difference to me if we play on Sim or Pro-Sim but driving on Pro-Sim is more skillful, interesting, realistic and fun. I looking forward to first Pro-Sim V8 Championship.

I apologize for my absense from the F3 and DTM series early on. I just became too busy with school to race and after a few problems posting correct times, I just said too much for me for now. But I am hear to race a full V8 Supercars season. I bought a wheel and bought the PC game, and have yet to run these cars. Give me 20 minutes and I should have a time.

Had a quick session...you need to take more time with set ups in pro-sim...I'm sure I could go quicker.....more concentration & pedal work required which makes for more of a challenge.....it will be interesting to see how many drivers we get...but we need a change....we have had two seasons of normal sim...we have driven all the Aussie & International tracks.....I think we need about 6-8 people at least to make it a goer in February.

Will turn up for the first round but to be honest with you, I'm at a distinct disadvantage by not using a wheel so my commitment for the season will be dictated by my performance in Adelaide.

I ran into some problems. This is hard. I usually only ran the Williams cars and FBMW cars. Never a tin top.
But, I did manage a decent time. 1:03.77. Took about 70 laps, and 3 cans of Red Bull, as well as about 2 stops to the restroom. Turn one saw me do everything you could do wrong at that corner. I got on the brakes, lock them up, and slide to the wall, undercut the corner and spin out. Spin out driver a perfect line. Anything that could be done wrong at that corner I did. Rest of the track was not an issue for me. The first hairpin was tough, but only managed a few spins.
I am glad I can race again. This time with a seat, wheel, all on the PC.

I'll be using a controller..cant afford a wheel. Need alot of other more important things!
Hopefully i'll be able to test soon. Might get a chance tonight or tomorow night.
I'd like to suggest 2 ch'ships. Well..3 actually. The main one, where the points are normal. Then divide up in 2 classes, ones with the wheels, and the others with the controllers. So us poor ickle ones on the controllers still have some motivation to compete ;)

Good to see such interest....I think we should help each other in these trials to get a better grip on pro-sim...a big discovery I made was setting the BRAKE/BIAS very much to the front...in time trial I used 20/80..this was the biggest factor in getting me into the 02's..I also used very low DOWNFORCE..50/50....& I found a softer SUSPENSION worked better on this track........I'm starting to really enjoy pro-sim.....I know that Vuko Jnr, BobZee,Hollydog & even Muz are keen to try a pro-sim comp..could be a very competitive series...I think the idea of an "A" & "B" division could be an idea we look into......we will run some more trials until Feb...to maybe help sort out the two divisions..to get an idea of where people are with speed....so get involved in these trials people!

I really like the idea of the Pro-sim competition and the breakdown that real_illusions has suggested, I'd be more prepared to give a firmer commitment knowing that I could compare my times to similarly equipped racers.

Had a go at a race on 110% A.I.......to qualify pole you need a 1.02.38.....to get into the top ten you have to be in the low 04's...the racing was brilliant...far better than normal sim.... very challenging

You have to throttle off early & squeeze the pedal gently......had a go & posted a respectable 3m.17.65.......just beating home the Ford of Bargwanna.....only made one little error on last lap...1st lap...1.08.8....2nd lap..1.03.6.....3rd lap...1.05.2...I can improve that last lap!!!

I did a 3 lap race this morning;
Lap One 1m13.08s
Lap Two 1m06.88s
Lap Three 1.11.69s
Overall Time 3m31.65s
On the final lap, I got spun around coming out of turn 5 and dropped a good 3-4 seconds. Will work on a bit more set-up during the day and have another blast.

1:05.77 was my fast lap, 3:22.60 was my OA.

2nd January 2008, 17:21
I did 1:02.18 with this setup:
Downforce - 50/75 (front/rear)
Transmission - 0.22/0.32/0.42/0.52/0.62/0.72
Anti-Roll - 1.00/1.00
Tyres - 0.50 compound, 50/50 profile
Brake Bias - 10/90 (rear/front)
Ride Height - 0.00/0.00
Suspension Strangth - 0.00/0.00
Suspension Damping - 0.50/0.50
Toe & Camber - default

2nd January 2008, 21:23
Thanks Piotr.....very similar to my set up....the Brake Bias to the front is very important....the softer suspension prevents too much wheelspin out of corners...I also use a hard Anti - Roll.....I used +4.0 Fr..+2.0 Rear negative camber...creates better turn in....I hope these helpful hints can improve your times!

3.17.62 for the 3 laps, fastest lap was 1.03.49
Will need to practice my starts i think

This pro-sim certainly is different. Its alot like driving a real car on a real race track.
You need to get all of your braking before the corner. Brake into the corner and the cars going to spin out and crash, and you'll burn to death within a matter of seconds..(well, maybe not that bad but you get the general idea ;) ).
My fastest single lap was a 1:05.50
That was copying Priotr's setup, except with more downforce.
:)

3rd January 2008, 02:40
Bettered my 3 lap time by a few tenths....but every tenth counts in pro-sim....did a 3m.17.41.....2nd & final lap were both in the 03's but my 1st lap was a bit down on last time....
3 LAP TIMES:
1.Vuko Snr...3m.17.41
2.BobZee.....3m.17.62
3.J.Shell.......3m.22.60

I've actually been driving the Beta Electric Ford....I might change to Ford for this years series...they have offered me good money....keep the 3 lap times coming in..for practice!! I will put up a different track next week after the GT race.

3rd January 2008, 10:27
I'm really starting to get the hang of this, I'm now down to a 3m 22.10s with a best lap of 1m04.20s
Funnily enough, despite my scepticism about the the Pro-sim set-up, I'm closer to the top guys than I was in normal sim (now if only I had a steering wheel, could I be even closer??).

when you play on controller.

After the great battle with other Holden: 3:16.50 with fastest lap: 1:03.52. It's really hard to overtake AI cars here because they have faster cars ! I try next time with qualifying.

I agree Piotr, I'm well and truly on the edge with that time I posted this morning but I was using my own set-ups. I'll go and try your set-up this evening and see does it make any improvement.
The main reason that I'll be buying the wheel is for my PS3 but if it improves my times on the PS2, I'll be well chuffed with that as well.

seems the key for that first corner for me is to let off the throttle early, like peter said, then reall feather it and hold is gently steady through the corner.
can anyone take that first turn flat out?
me thinks I'll give the 3 lapper another go

the first turn isn't flat out..but the next right hander is..even on a controller. Although you have to take the right line. Start too wide, and you'll run wide, crash and then burn to death again

Great race. If it was not for that Bargwana I'd have won easy.
Lap 1: 1:10.22
Lap 2: 1:03.87
Lap 3: 1:03.23
3:17.32 Overall Time. Was just short on the second lap of making turn one at full throttle. Had to let off about midway through the corner.
After the first lap, I was eight because of the starts the AI cars had. But going into the hairpin they brake so early that you can get around them.
