I prefer Beemers to SEATs because I think the BMWs sound nicer :) . Maybe SEAT weren't doing a good enough deal for the Leons?

Has anyone spotted this?

Especially this bit!
At this stage we do not know who the drivers will be, who knows!! Matt I would like to keep with us and I would like to see Steven Kane move up to BTCC from Carrera Cup, he certainly has the speed and ability, but we really do have an open mind and are excited about next year as we feel we will be able to go out in 2008 to win.

That blog was written on 30th October though, which is quite a long time in motorsport.
Would be good to see someone coming to the BTCC from the carreras though- I can only think of Pinkney whos done it before (but quite a few seem to have gone the other way..........like harvey, richard williams etc)

Yeah a long time ago!
Let's ignor it. It was said so long ago it can't be true..
How can we expect someone like Steven Kane to be a touring car driver? Not really done much racing.

I don't think that is true, Steven Kane has raced in F3 and last year in the Porsches where he finished 3rd in the championship. He has enough racing experience to be a touring car driver.

steven kane would be a good driver for motorbase,he won races this year for them and has been a mclaren autosport award winner .
he is the sort of driver a team like motorbase could find to be quick in a rear wheel drive car.
If they keep Matt Allison he has got good rear wheel drive expirence,he was british gt champion in 2006 in a porsche.

Matt has been away from rear-wheel drive for a year. Surley a more experienced driver would fit better into the BMW's! Someone like Anthony Reid or Vincent Radermecker.... Or better still Bring Back Tim Harvey!!!

Only a single year, it's not like Allison will have had amnesia and forgotten everything about rear-wheel drive cars.

I think you are correct ,you do not forget that quick.
Motorbase could do well by keeping drivers they know matt allison has already shown he can be quick and steven kane would have no problem with the switch to Btcc.

I would have thought drivers would be queing-up to drive the BMW's!
Surprised no-one has really been connected with the drive!

Now! That does'nt look like a mock-up to me!

And still no mention of drivers!

It may just be a car the Motorbase have borrowed, remember last year WSR painted up a Swedish car in RAC colours for the sponsors whilst they built theirs?

This Kane guy has been mentioned but I see they have two others racing for them. Andy Britnell and Sam Hancock.
Sam in particular seems a good bet judging from the endorsments in his Driver Profile.
"Sam is a very quick driver and has impressed me enormously with his professionalism and maturity. He has a very bright future."

Hancock is a pretty decent driver, whether he'd ever want to jump to touring cars is another thing.

The Motorbase BMW was at the Autosport show and looks just like and other BMW - WHITE
Im sure that it isnt that hard to think of a nice bright livery!!!
By the way the BMWs are ex.Schnitzer Cars
Les

that livery at the show is not the 'real' livery. You know Motorbase better than that. Last years livery was a real eye catcher - 2 cars, same design but different colours - I loved it.

I wonder what colour they will be this year? I must admit I liked the blue they had last year.
What colour does everyone else think?

I think we all knew that of course. But since they are ex-Schnitzer, and assuming the idea, however unlikely, that they are largely pre-built already, does anyone have a vague idea when the second one could be expected at Motorbases' facility?
Also something I noticed. Are we to safely establish that whatever we do not know thus far, the first one that was delivered will run as #8?

They should have their second car by the end of January..
08 was picked to identify 2008!

Any news on who the motorbase drivers are yet, perhaps matt allison will be coming back for 08 as he has not been linked with any other teams.

I think there was an article on Crash.net that Dave Bartrum said he was closing in on the drivers he wanted but nothing was confirmed yet. Understandably he didn't drop hints about the identities of the drivers, though I hope Matt Allison is one of them.
