How do you say Adidas?

Is it a-dee-das or ad-id-as?

I hear both

Ad - Id - As

That's what they say on their adverts, so who are we to argue?

Isn't adidas "good bye" in Spanish?

But they say "Porsh" and "Perjo" for the cars and both are just UK speak, nothing like the original version.

Suppose you're right, but I always use Ad - Id - Ass.

Another one that causes contention is Nike. Some say it's Nike and some say it's Nikey. Nikey is actually correct, according to the company.

No its

A-Di-Das

actually. :)

The Adidas company was founded my a Mr Adolf (Adi) Dasler. The RP For this would be: \a'-di-da's\ - assuming a clipped pronunciation of "a" as by most standard Bavarian (centred on Munich).

If a word is German in origin, why is an American the authority to pronounce it?

No try saying Ad-Id-As and then A-Di-Das and you'll see that I am right :D The syllables need to start with the consonants you see, otherwise the sections of the word are disfigured.
