After hearing whats going on behind the scenes! it seems that Sonny is prepaired to see the V8's vanish for good!! .......what a shame it is that he couldnt help rather dig the hole deeper!!!! ...Maybe NOW would be a good time to show Sonny and Mr Buller how much people want the V8's to stay!!! Anyone for a Partition????

Hi Braveheart, Care to share your news in a little more detail ? - the fans like us without team links have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. This forum is as near as most of us get to inside information.

Be glad to know more......

Hi Bravheart, I want the V8s, but if no V8s, then as far as I am concerned, Saturdays and Sunday, will be either at another race meeting in the UK, or elsewhere, not at Rockingham.

PUT's won't be my first choice, even though they are great racing, it is V8's that brought me to Rockingham, race after race, apart from Champcars.

Sorry to say, I think I won't see much at Rockingham this year then.

Hope V8's do survive, and I wish PUT's all the best, but not for my pennies I afraid, will I be attending Rockingham.

Good Luck to all, whatever the outcome.

There are lots of things being said that are not 100%.

There are still lots of meetings going on between circuit owners, organisers, and co-ordinators. NOTHING is finalised yet. As far as I know, there is a lot of supposition going on here. At this time of year the goalposts are like those in a Ministry of Defence contract (OSN will confirm how variable they can be). Calendars change from week to week. I recall seeing a provisional race calendar at this time once. By January there wasn't one single event on the calendar that was the same. All the events were on different dates.

The days are gone where we knew what we were doing the next year at the last event of the year. Now we're in the big melting pot with everyone else, and the word PROVISIONAL means "why bother publishing anything because it means nothing until it's fixed and final!"

If we could let our leaders get on with their negotiations without being undermined by guesstimations and chinese whispers, I have no doubt that we'll be surprised what they can achieve in retaining the unique character of the V8 Trophy/ASCAR/SCSA/DoT.

I know more than I'm letting on but I keep my trap shut because I don't want to undermine what's going on.

Rob.

Please keep your hair on folks - especially those of you who should know better...

Nothing is finalised and nothing is certain - after six seasons of watching the V8's that's one lesson I've learnt and one lesson I've come to respect. Unfortunately motorsport isn't like the cat fancy, where the show calendar is released a year in advance.

March is the time to start figuring things out. ;) In the mean time, let the little house elves behind the scenes do their work without any diversions.

Its a sad state of play when it comes down to V8's need your help, what a brilliant series we had, no infact what a brilliant race weekend we used to have with the stock cars and the pick ups, in 2001-2002 who would of stood there and hought A. most if not all the excellent people at rockingham would be gone, B. the "boss" of one of the series would be trying to bury another series when they work 1st class as a programme, and C. would there be any oval racing at rockingham in 2008?
may be "sad" is the wrong word, something stronger?
Im not one of these people who would like to see a series fail, i love all racing, but all i can say is i hope not but if V8's were to fail, i hope sonny would be pleased with him self and his series were to fail.
Abit harsh you may say, but the truth hurts. :vader:

Too right Rob. Having been "nutted" in a Channel 4 so-called documentary a couple of weeks ago because of that very situation, our company can certainly confirm that!

What those of us who are not connected to teams should be doing now is using any influence we might have to try to raise some of he much needed sponsorhip money to help the teams in general and Duane in particular to keep the series going. I am not having too much luck at the moment, but it is not stopping me trying, so get your contacts book going and try to pursuade someone to put some cash into the series. Dosh will work a lot more than a petition.

This is True, maybe the word petition in this instance was incorrect! but a show of support for the V8's might not go a miss!

i dont think sonny is or has ever been the boss of the v8, he and barbra have given a lot of free time in helping and supporting the v8 and like all of us would love to see the v8 survive and get back to 20+ cars, but its not sonnys or the PUT fault that the v8 can only get a few cars on the grid.
its clear some of you in this thread havn't got a clue whats going on behind the sceans, so as someone has already said keep your mouth shut your not helping anyone.

Some people should engage brains before talking, or placing fingers on a keyboard.
Sonny is and has helped but has to look after his series first.
I dont think this thread will help our cause.

on a complete tangent, i wnet to birmingham wheels a few weeks ago for teh legends, hot rods and f2 finals, and i have to say it was fantasttic, i have no idea why more people dont support oval racing if this is what its like, ill definately be going back again, infact i went to the bangers last week, not racing but enteraining non the less.

in terms of ascar, i seriously hope the series survives, but if it is not to be i still hope to see the cars out there in sports and saloons or britcar or some other race series, i just like the cars, whether theyre on ovals or circuits and the asa cars did pretty well in transams last years

Have i missed some big announcement? The last i read was the v8's only got 2dates at rockingham,is there something else also going on?
Its all well and good being patient but i like to plan ahead as i do actually have a couple of other interests (admittedly not many ha ha!!) away from scsa. The longer it takes for the race dates to be confirmed the less likelihood there is of me being able to attend races anyway.

Need I ask you gentlemen twice to watch yourselves?

I *WILL* get you to wash your mouths out with soap if you carry on in this mode - your only choice is whether to choose Lux with lavender or unrefined brown soap.

So, any news? Some of us are trying to plan our 2008!

I've already got dates from other clubs, so I've committed (some say I should be :) ) myself to work for them.

Be a shame if the SCSA dates clash :(

I'd also love to be able to plan 2008, but.....

There are no inked dates yet. Lots of pencil...
Since we are "Persona non grata" with most people, it's a difficult job to put a decent calendar together, and Duane is making the best of bad job.

The sad facts are that we won't be at Rockingham much, and we're not going to Germany as we'd hoped (the operators of Eurospeedway have no Oval dates planned for 2008, and we don't have E120,000 to hire the place for the weekend!!)

Expect a mix of ovals and road courses - just like NASCAR.

How will spotting work on road courses?

I know we've discussed this to death in previous threads but that was always along the lines of "that's another good reason ASCARs can't race on road courses"

Ahem, I don't like heights much when ya finished so no strapping bits of wood to my legs.

I like the telly option, can we finance it somehow? I'd like a hot chocolate or two whilst working please, oh, and some digestives of course, plain ones, not chocolate covered. ;)

Is that hot chocolate with lots of cream on top. Let me know so I can buy some especially for you. x

No cream thanks, but don't forget to stock up on jaffa cakes for the boys. Actually, have you contacted Mcvities yet about some sponsorship deal?
