After early Oct. in Ontario anyone caught doing 50K over lost their car on the spot for 7 days, licence suspended for 7 days and on conviction a $2000.00 to $10,000.00 fine. As of mid Nov. about 1500 people have been caught. Mostly males and mostly under 30 but by no means all. Several doing 170+ in a 100K zone. One this week in a new BMW at 176 in an 80.
Ontario's top cop wants it changed to 30 over. On our 400 series highways (100k) most people run at 120 to 125. When we went metric speed dropped from 70 mph to 100k or just over 60 mph.
Thoughts?

Is that it, seven days?! That's pretty leniant, although the fine is much more harsh.

Here if you go at 100mph on 70mph dual carraigeways and motorways, that's an instant ban. Which means you have to redo the whole test process again.

That is the on the spot suspension. The Judge can impose a longer (much) suspension.
