Please let's keep Schumi off here, and talk about other Drivers/Team...

Thanks :)

Interesting view of the non TC cars:

Badoer reckons rookie drivers will now face a bigger challenge when trying to take the car to its limits.

"The F1 cars had become too easy: if a new guy came in and did some good laptimes, a star was born," Badoer told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Now, by contrast, they are harder, so more enjoyable: you need sensitivity and capability in managing the throttle.

"Of course, by the end of winter we'll lap on the same times as this year, but we'll see the difference between who is truly good and the rest."

How do you plan to enforce that when he's setting the pace in testing at the moment in the "Winter tests 2007/08" :?: :p :

No offense pino but why aren't the 2 threads merged by now?
This way you wouldn't have to make comments like the one above, which has a bit of a bizarre sound to it.
Just my 2 cents.

Do we know who is running with/without TC?

I suppose everyone is doing it. Otherwise how could they compare things???
They aren't going to compare Nakajima with TC to Rosberg without TC as it would have no relevance due to different driving styles and setups.

They all had to run with and without TC at least yesterday in order to get an idea about what's different, than they can start working on the car in an attempt to make it as fast as possible without TC.

As simple as that.

It's better to have one about MS, for those who wants to "discuss" him and his performance, and another one for those who wants to stay off there and talk about other drivers/team :)

I agree. We can still have a rational discussion of the testing, and the MS fanboy/hateboy circus, but not mixed in together. Good call.

I find this completely absurd and discriminating.

Mod Appeasment measure v1.1. Hereonin, Michael Schumacher shall be reffered to as the 'German Racer and Former Ferrari Teamster' or GRAFFT for short.

It is a little PC to expect a thread, about the 2007/2008 Winter tests, expecting us to just ignore a particular participant.

Or am I missing something.

NB - I am by no means a Mich, oops GRAFFT fan.

hey ioan **** this guy - he probably has a cheater motor in the car to make himself look good - he is no longer a part of the show except some promotional bullsh!t from Ferrari who probably got paid a fortune for putting a cheater motor in the car to boost him on top!!

Take a look at the times and you'll see that yesterday generally times improved by a good margin ( 0.5 to 1.0 seconds).
As I doubt that everyone made such a huge technical step in a few hours I would rather say that track conditions were better and thus everyone posted better times.

What is however worth mentioning is that Ferrari were up front every day! :D

Yes!! This presumably also means that the "overtaking" lower downforce aero rules will come in, in one form or another, otherwise the cars will be too fast. :)

(If they simply used a hard compound that would disadvantage the Ferraris, so that is not an option... :D )

2009 is shaping up nicely, already! All this and Kimi vs Fernando...

It would be nice to see them working with wider front and rear tracks, too (the other half of the 1998 changes). Restore more mechanical grip and feel to the cars => more "hero moves" in races.

Although I'm afraid most of you don't care at all, then for me and for all the Estonians the Jerez tests are very important as after 4 years Marko Asmer has again got a chance to test an F1-car (and this time without speed-limiter!).

It's basically "all or nothing" for Marko. He is under enormous pressure, knowing fully well that due to limited funds the chances for next year are fairly limited. He hasn't got the money to compete in GP2 (even some other drivers from this year's British F3 have tested GP2 cars in November, Marko hasn't), he has a chance to get to DTM, but that would basically destroy all the F1-hopes. BMW test drive or nothing? Asmer performed well against his straight rival Villa yesterday, especially considering that he has never driven on that particular circuit before.

For a small nation it's really hard to make it into F1. The chances of accomplishing the dream and getting to F1 have always been hard for Asmer, but at the moment it looks more probable than ever before. According to an agreement, BMW will announce whether they hire Marko as their test driver or not, before December 15. Not much time left and we here are all hoping for those front-page news. :)

Good luck to him, every extra nation is a good thing. Great shame Markko Martin wasn't able to stay in WRC, so hopefully Asmer can do well in F1.
