It doesn't surprise me too much. With the amount of training these guys do, trianing for a marathon feels natural.

Lance Armstrong also took part, his time was 2:46:42

Martin Lel of Kenya finished first with a time of 2:09:04

Heiki also did it for his sponsor. ING Grope NV, which sponsors the Renault team, is also the title sponsor of the ING New York City Marathon.

Now that's "taking one for the sponsor".

Also a great story from motorsport-related people. Barilla, which has sponsored Zanardi, asked him to speak at their pre-marathon pasta party and was given a handbike to try the handicapped division, and turned in a top-five finish in the handbikes of the handicapped division.

Heiki's time even beats 2-time Daytona 500 champion Michael Waltrip, who has run three marathons -- Kiawah (Charleston, SC, home of 1991 Ryder Cup, 2007 PGA Seniors, and 2012 PGA Championship golf), Boston, and Las Vegas (last on old course) -- by 22:27.

Fair play to him, i heard he was doing it, but forgot to find out how he did. His BBC column is very interesting, and i know he was looking forward to it, i look forward to hearing what his response to it was. :)

pretty good time, but IMO, running is the most boring and tedious of exercises. He should play hockey or football instead!

But what about skiing? :D

Anyway, maybe for him running is not boring and tedious, so who are you to tell him, what should he do? :)
