I was wondering if you, toruing car lovers, know TC2000. The Argentinian Touring Car series that is situated among the best in the world because of it cars and technology (sadly the structure of the tracks is the only thing missing to make it first class).
Some important foreign drivers had been invited during the last 4 years to the 200 km of Buenos Aires race as: Alain Menu, Nicola Larini, Robert Huff, Anthony Reid, Cristian Fittipaldi, Luciano Burti, etc.
These are this year's models.

The great thing about the TC2000 is that have many makes represented at the Works level. The TC2000 cars look like mini-DTM cars. Small cars, but very aggressive aero aids.

We have heard of it! But there is nowhere in the UK where you can see it, that's a shame :)

Is it popular in Argentina?

It is very popular but I have to admit there is one series even more popular (with disgusting cars and a not so clean championship).
But in TC2000 main manufacturers are involved directly like Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet and Renault plus it makes special races as the "200km of Buenos Aires" with internationa guests drivers as I mentioned before.
Now there is also a race in the streets in Argentina since last year and they are adding one in Punta del Este, Uruguay to end the season.
Besides that TC2000 is planing to go to Chile and maybe Mexico too so it is growing up a lot in these last years even if it already has almost 30 years of history.

Why do you feel there is so much works support in TC2000? We'd love that level of backing in the BTCC nowadays!

Looks a great series, by the way.

Well, I know that the people directing TC2000 is doing great effort to make the series more attractive now only to Argentinian public but trying to expand the reach of this series and as I told you.
For the last "200km of Buenos Aires" 400 journalist including Brazilians, Mexicans, Uruguayan, Chilean and even Tony Watson from Autosport were in.
A lot of sponsors are involded, specially in this race with VIP tends and you will see important people of all the Mercosur manufacturers during the weekend.
I also have to say it is not all great, the great popularity of touring series make the open-wheel series very week here and also the sponsors putting so much money in local racing prevents some drivers as José María "Pechito" López to have a good budget to go and compete in Europe. He was tester of Renault-F1 Team last year and he was out because he didn't have what Nelsinho Piquet did... money!

It looks good. Are the cars limited to all run with the same type of wheels as all the cars pictured have the same style? Can't you just tell us on here how to get the races rather than everybody having to pm you, please?

Regarding the other question I can´t because the tracker I and other people upload the races doesn't want the users to post its url. It's not that I'm trying to sound interesting or anything. I'm sorry.

This is the website of "Inside TC2000", the weekly tv show of the TC2000 that is on cable tv here.

I think from there you'll be able to see images to get an idea of TC2000 cars racing.

FOCUS TC2000
Once again in the PRI Trade Show

Buenos Aires, October 7th 2007.- The Performance Race Industry Show which takes place at Orlando, Florida, is a huge attraction for all those people related to the competition car industry. Manufacturers and businessmen from all over the world meet during this three-day event which continues to grow each year.
In 2006, the presentation of a TC2000 Focus of the works YPF Ford team attracted the attention of the visitors to the show, with its aggressive lines and technical characteristics corresponding to the great Argentinian motor racing division.
In 2007, the PRI Trade Show will include Focus Nº 5 -already on its way there-, which will thus be seen at one of most important international exhibitions, so as to give proof of the quality of Argentinian workforce.

For those who asked me about how to get the races I tell you that yesterday's race is now available. It was held in a renewed and pretty nice circuit with rainy weather. Very interesting.

Last race highlights in Obera, Misiones under heavy rain weather in a new circuit with many level changes.
It was a very nice race and José María "Pechito" López (2006 & 2007 GP2 driver and Renault F1 Team tester) did a perfect job to claim his third victory of the season.
