Anti-lag
At Thruxton, I heard pop sounds coming from the exhausts of the BTCC Leons and Toledos - is it an anti-lag system?

Don't think the Tourers have Turbos...??

No BTCC cars dont use Turbos. I expect that they were running a very rich air/fuel mixture and that it was unburnt fuel on the hot exhaust. I did see flames out of Allisons exhaust :D

Even the Vectras do that. Seems to be something the S2000 cars do a lot. Gives you a fright when it does it!

Does anti-lag have to use turbos, thought it was deliberatly misfiring the engine?

Yea it has to have turbos. Anti-lag just keeps the turbo spinning up all the time so you dont have to wait for the power to kick in so obviously no use on a natural aspirated (non turbo) engine :)

lol Maybe VX are running Traction control......

rally cars use the turbo and the anti-lag is turn up to the max so they have full power all the time.

it's just not fuel cutting on overrun. easily setup in the ECU

your road car doesn't do it because of fuel economy (basically the injectors can still fire when on overrun on the BTCC cars)

+ it would be annoying on a road car :)
