Sounds like DJ's leaning toward a partial season next year. Smartest thing Mikey could do is share the car with him putting someone else (Stremme, Mayfield, Raines Marlin or Green, Said?) full time in the 55. That would give Waltrip more time to run MWR.

Dale Jarrett has to be frustrated ...
plus his current situation has to be depressing ...
I look for him to go to a partial schedule next year. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/gr8link/erm/7.gif

I admire him for figuring out a way to gracefully get himself out of the mess that is MWR.

A few weeks ago on Trackside DJ said he wasn't going anywhere, meaning retirement. Although he says a broadcasting job offer had no bearing on his upcoming announcement I don't buy it.

He's one of the remaining "old guard" drivers that I'll be sorry to see hang it up.

I'm finding it harder to connect with some of the newbies the way I did with DJ, Terry Labonte and Mark Martin. Hang in there for at least a partial season, Jarrett.

He should have done that a year or 2 ago I think.DJ well be remembered as one of the true class guys in the garage.

Looks like Dale Jarrett has a plan for retirement in 2008 ...
according to a person familiar with Michael Waltrip Racing :
Jarrett will use his 6 previous champion's provisional to make the 1st 6 races in 2008 ...
after that step out of the #44, hoping he has it into the top 35 in owner's points ...
David Reutimann will then take over the driving duties of the #44 UPS Toyota ...
Michael Waltrip hopes to keep the #00 but with another driver & sponsor, yet to be secured. :s

Jayski says MWR are considering putting Josh Wise or Michael McDowell in the #00 after Reutimann moves over to the #44. Neither of them have even run in Busch yet appart from Wise's one of at Gateway.

Putting Reutimann in the #44 next season is a great move for MWR. David has done really well this season compared to his bigger name team mates and with Toyota improving all the time I doubt MWR will struggle as much as they have this year. As for the #00 I think they would be better looking at someone like Mayfield but they seem to be treating it as a development team.
