"Why do you lot repeatedly report that Lewis Hamilton will make history by becoming the first driver to win the world title in his debut season? Surely the first year the Grand Prix circuit started, they were all F1 'ROOKIES', including the winner?" (MD)

Not really - F1 started before the World Drivers championship did. And Farina drove in F1 in the late 40's although he lost his best years to the war.

Do you mean no rookies were in the first year of WDC? Maybne it is time to go back in history?!

I couldn't answer that...I'd assume some drivers would have 1950 as their maiden year competing in F1, but it wasn't Nino Farina.
