With a lot of new cars and liveries changing in 2007, I thought it would a good idea to get some pictures of the new cars. For a start, does anyone have a decent pictue of the mitsu that Aigner will drive in the P-WRC:

I think Henning's Focus will look good. However I think the '06 Focus looks hideous, unlike the '05 Focus which looked good.

A pity the Red Bull Skodas won't be there.

To look at yes; that's the one thing that team got right, the RB Fabia looked great last year.

I think almost any car in Red Bull livery looks good. The Red Bull Indycar, DTM Audi, F1 car, ...

However a Red Bull Porsche 911 GT3 RSR looks ugly, and I don't think Red Bull could make an '06 Focus look good...

Aigner's Red Bull Mitsu should look like it looked in 2005 (aka very nice) :

I have mixed feelings about the 06 Focus too (it looks like a DTM car rather than a rally car). But the Red Bull livery was awesome on the older Focus WRC, when it was driven by Raimund Baumschlager of Austria:

Oh yes. The Leon is an otherwise funny-looking but the Red Bull livery suits it well.

It does look nice.

I think the conclusion we're coming to is that we want the '06 Focus to be modified toi look like the '05 Focus, and for all teams, cars and drivers to have Red Bull sponsorship ;) .

Nice looking car is the Munchi's Focus. Dont think it will be going very fast so hopefully I'll be able to get a few pics of it at various points this year!

Id love to see Subaru attract a big sponsor or do some one off liveries or something to liven things up. A Corona car in Mexico for example would be great.

You probably read it from the old forums. Some member, unfortunately I can't remember who, posted a great post according to Subaru's blue color. Was it a midi-blue? I might be totally wrong but I remember that the team, and factory, workers have a great respect and are proud towards the color.

a yellow Impreza... it would be nice for one event....... the FIA do allow one-off liveries in the WRC, don't they?

Ferrari and Subaru have subtley altered the shade of their cars. The Ferrari red used to be lighter but they darkened it to match the Marlboro red. Subaru used to be a bit darker in the 90s, but apart from that the car was identical.

I do not think one can copyright a color itself. It's like copyrighting sunlight. However, process of making one can be copyrighted and if it's difficult to reproduce exactly the same color, end result equals to copyrighting the color.

Blue and Subaru are synonymous and even though LeonBrooke is correct, it is lighter blue than it used to be, I'd hate to see Subaru switch colors. In fact, I think there was talk about them turning some major sponsor down because of uncompatible colorscheme.

If I am not entirely mistaken, FIA does not have any rules about liveries apart from some identification stuff (competition number, names on car etc). In fact, liveries do change from time to time during the year (Kronos Citroen in last three rallies last year or OMV's change earlier in the year). Toyota ran their Corolla WRC's in 1998 with rally specific liveries, see:
http://www.juwra.com/toyota_1998_special_feature.html

I like this idea, maybe if Subaru have something to celebrate they could do a reversed livery for an event, would look very well

I like the Subaru blue and yellow, I agreee with the comparision to Ferrari red, its now part of the identity for both teams, why would you want it changed, the Subaru scheme may not be radicle and yes we all know what to expect on the startline in Monte but its still the classiest scheme out there

Yes, it was owned by General Motors and they even produced Saab based on Subaru Impreza. But since last spring Fuji technologies (right?) and hence Subaru belongs to Toyota.

I was wondering because the F1 regulations prevent a major livery-change during a season, so if a car is mostly grey it has to stay like that until the next year, even if there is a sponsor-change which would lead to a colour-scheme change.

I have to agree there. Sure the blue is an identity thing, but it doesn't look good, in my opinion.

I'd never heard anything about this, but Fuji industries does own Subaru, so if Toyota owns Fuji, they own Subaru.

GM sold its stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru, to Toyota last year. This was part of the capital raising strategy and program that GM undertook to try to finance a minor restructure in the face of high losses from car sales.

I don't believe it is a controlling majority but is the largest single share holder, around 4% perhaps?

Wasn't the "Subaru Blue" inheritied from it's 555 Tobacco sponsorship?

As seen here:

So they "stole" their iconic colour.

As of March 31, 2006 Toyota Motor Company owned 8.69% of Fuji Heavy Industries:

Interestingly, also Suzuki has a stake (1,75% at that time).

Well technically, but they had had the 555 livery for so long that they should be forgiven for sticking with it, in the spirit of brand recognition.

Quite right it is a photoshop of last years original images. But seen as they probably hadn't painted one up at the time they had to do something for press shots. It seems like a natural instinct to think everything is fake nowadays. It probably been revealed at the Autosport show already so I'm sure there will be a pic up soon of the car in the flesh.

A few pics of the show on crash.net, who in their wisdom focused almost entirely on the women.
