View Full Version : 2007 Rallye International du Valais

[Madeira-Rally]
3rd October 2007, 14:39
Rallye International du Valais is the next race of IRC 2007.
This rally could decide who will be the winner of IRC 2007. There are 3 drivers with chance to win. Navarra, Ojeda and Vouilloz.

Ojeda (39 points) is the current leader, and Navarra and Vouilloz are 2 nd overall with the same points (32 points).

Ojeda, Vouiloz, Navarra and other official Fiat, for sure it will be there... as well as both Honda Civic driver by Daniel Sola and Luca Betti.
I suppose that Cavigioli who is running for Peugeot Switzerland will be there too.

According to IRC site, Luca Rossetti is aiming to be at the start of Rally du Valais...

Paverini Competition from France, will enter on the rally with a german driver, Karl Friedrich Beck, an experimented driver who know really well the route of the rally (he as entered rallye du Valais for 3 times before)

I don't know which swiss drivers drivers will be there, but I suppose Olivier Burri (last year winner), Olivier Gillet and Grégoire Hotz could enter .. and I think only them could have a very small chance to fight for a podium finish against IRC contenders.. in normal conditions off course.

As the rally is very close to Italy, for sure there will be lot of Italian drivers.

There is a rumor that says Alex Bengue could make the debut of MG S2000 on Rally Du Valais.

The rally will be from 27 to 29 October.

Relax, it's better to be there with a good car, then with rubbish. Also, have you seen an asfalt kit for the MG?

Take a look at the Rally Ireland entrylist...there's one MG S2000 on it ;)

By the way, Swiss Rally website gives another reason to Bengué's forfait: lack of developpment of the car :mark:

Only number 18 for 8-times winner Olivier Burri. :( Yesterday, Freddy Loix was here on the regional TV and he said that it will be difficult for him to fight for the victory and for sure the stages in the mountains.

According to Rallylink Forum Navarra has a puncture in SS2 and lost 40s, and Scandola is the fastest 3s ahead Ojeda and 7s ahead of Vouilloz

It seems the guy on Rallylink was wrong Vouilloz fastest again :p :

Tom206wrc
25th October 2007, 17:21
In fact I looked at the overall result :mark:

Scandola was fastest on SS2 ahead of Vouilloz and Ojeda...

Tom206wrc
25th October 2007, 18:10
According to Kapo from the Rallylink forum, Vouilloz wins SS3 by a margin of about 4s over Scandola and Ojeda ;)

After leg 1 Vouilloz has about 8s advantage over Scandola and 9s over Ojeda :)

But of course tomorrow will be a very tough and tricky leg and nothing is done of course :mark:

Thank you to Kapo  who got live news long time before the official RIV website

Tom206wrc
25th October 2007, 19:46
Finally gaps between Vouilloz and Scandola is 7.2s and 7.6s with Ojeda ;)

I expect a huge fight tomorrow with surely huger gaps :mark:

[Madeira-Rally]
26th October 2007, 08:33
Scandola is doing a very good job.

Last year he had many retirements, but this year it looks like he gained a little bit more speed and consistence!

As expected Peugeot boys are going well too :)

Tom206wrc
26th October 2007, 09:41
Best time for Ojeda ahead of Vouilloz, Scandola and Loix on SS4 :D

Vouilloz still leading for 7.3s Ojeda and 17.3s Scandola after SS4... ;)

[Madeira-Rally]
26th October 2007, 10:08
Navarra lost the "train" once again... more than 30 sec. slower than Ojeda...

It's a lot of time :(

I don't know what's happening with Navarra this year...
He have a lot of experience in various surfaces and some experience in running out of his country.. but this year he didn't nothing really well...

Tom206wrc
26th October 2007, 10:26
Knowing he can not reduce the gap he lost with puncture yesterday I guess he probably chose to run safe and not taking risk on the longest and tricky stage of this morning :mark:

SS11 best time for Ojeda who takes 12s from Vouilloz and is back at +24s...

Second time for Loix who is back at 8.1s from Scandola...

Strange by the way that roads of Valais are in mountain where torkey engines should have an advantage and therefore S2000s are still dominating traditionnal GrN !! :s

According to Swissrally Live-timing Vouilloz lost 18s on Navarra and Scandola on SS14 SSS and Ojeda is new leader for 4.9s

RIV's live-timing for SS14 is out of order

Tom206wrc
27th October 2007, 13:37

But what happens with Vouilloz since SS14 ??? :(

Ojeda is in the lead for 0.4s and Loix is back 3rd +20s behind...

I suppose it's team orders...
I can't find another explanation for this...

I really hope Scandola can pass Loix.... The italian need a good result in order to gain some credibility in Fiat team...

I hope to see him in a full IRC season next year.

Tom206wrc

Tom206wrc
27th October 2007, 14:24
SS16 is running...

Anyway, huge suspense with one stage to go !!! :D

Ojeda in the lead has a 0.6s gap over Vouilloz, Loix 3rd has less than one second advantage over Scandola !!!! Suspense I said :bounce:

The SS17 should be strongly disputed ;)

Tom206wrc
27th October 2007, 14:53
Ojeda couldn't resist the pressure !!!! Nicolas Vouilloz wins the the rallye du Valais with a 6.5s advantage over the Spaniard !! :bounce: :bounce:

Scandola takes 3rd place at the expense of Loix for less than 1s... ;)

Tom206wrc
