Alright, who's gonna win it?

I vote Garth Tander.

The four main contenders are 888, Toll HSV, FPR and HRT.
Unfortuantely it's hard to go past Lowndes but I hope it's one of the Holden guys.

Yep it does seem to be between those 4 teams. I really like GT, Whincup, Winterbottom and Brighty to would be happy with any of them winning. Which probably means Rick Kelly will!

Hey Homer,

Great to see you back mate, hope everything is well with you.

Fingers crossed 888 will do the business for back-to-back Ford wins this weekend.

A 888 back-to-back would be good. But there are so many drivers that could win the great race!
Mark Skaife seems a regular winner, he could have a turn around of form and surprise many...

As long as it's a good race, I don't mind who wins..

Any word on who is partnering who at Toll HSV, HRT, FPR and 888?

I assume FPR will put Bright and Winterbottom in one car given that neither can win the title but both have great pace. Will 888 team Lowndes and Whincup at Bathurst liek they did at Sandown or split them?

Geoff,

Bright is now at his own team, Britek. Think you're still stuck in 2006!

Steven Richards/Mark Winterbottom FPR
Jamie Whincup/Craig Lowndes T8
Rick "Crash Bandicoot" Kelly/ Garth Tander TOOL HSV (I hate Rick Kelly, let it be said but like GT a lot so it'll be mixed emotions if they win)
Mark Skaife/Todd Kelly HSV

Dark Horses:

Jason Richards/Greg Murphy TASMAN
Jason Bargwanna/Max Wilson WPS

Hope GT does well as he seems to be jinxed in the enduros.

Bright & Macrow could do well. GRM should be in the mix too, Holdsworth & Canto have had good pace lately.

I meant Richo! Doh! I'm with you on the Kelly/Tander thing....but I suspect 888 will have the edge, but this being Bathurst who knows. My heart wants FPR to do it because I really like Winterbottom and Richards, but head says an 888 victory would make the championship very interesting.

You can't ever discount Murph, especially JR alongside him and I guess HSV too, although Skaife seems to blow hot and cold....he'd best stay clear of Jack Perkins too.

Looking forward to it, although the race will already be over by the time we will see it in the UK. :( So used to staying up through the night and watching the buildup, then the whole race before breakfast time!

Iain,

I guess we should be happy that we're seeing the race in its totality though. Nothing else planned for Sunday so bring it on.

I know they're young/inexperienced etc but the second FPR car is well off the pace, more so than 888. Nice to see The Rat in the Top 10 :D the rest I sort of expected.

GRM look strong and I wouldn't discount Supercheap getting somewhere between 8-10 on the grid...might even put a few quid on them each way!

Brad Jones announced that Team BOC car 14 crashed my Damien White during qualifying is beyond repair. The crash that occurred along the top of the Mountain is not at this stage worth repairing considering that Indy is only two weeks away.

The #5 car of Owen Kelly and Haliday had a recurring engine mis fire yesterday so that is why they are so far down. The car looks awesome though.

The win goes to Lowndes & Whincup for the second year running & completing the Sandown/Bathurst double.

Courtney came home in second with Steve Johnson in third but in the last twelve laps it was open for all three drivers. Murphy/J.Richards Commodore tried hard to break up the Ford 1-2-3 but had to settle for third.

Hope all the Poms enjoy your delayed coverage. It was a fantastic race & definitely worth watching. Expect the unexpected especially the weather in the closing laps.

Pretty lacklustre race I thought, though the last dozen laps was more interesting. Congrats to Ford, really had their act together all week whereas Holden really had a dirty weekend. Opens the championship right up.

The last hour was good. However there was a complete lack of passing in the first 5 1/2 hours :\ Lowndes was fortunate to avoid being taken out twice.
I don't know what Bright's team were thinking putting cold tyres on :s How did they think that'd ever work?

Now thats funny....

Yeah the touring cars have become pretty boring (to me) in recent years with lack of much on track passing. Get rid of the control tyres and let em have at it I reckon....currently its just like watching sprint karts race and unless your in the top 3 or 4 forget it. Personally I really only turn on the tourers for Bathurst nowdays unfortunetely. This year it was pretty much only the last 15 laps with any action. I sort of was hoping Seto would do the business when the rain hit, reminded me of the good ol days when Nissan, BMW, Cosi's and all the brands into the mix made it more exciting.

Mind you Iam a Ford fan and it was good to see the triple play this year :s mokin:

Normally I'd agree about the lack of passing but just to watch them bomb round that circuit .... Loved it since I was a kid, love it now ... And the modern in-car stuff is so good ......

Bloody good race. Amazing pace through out. Even when there wasn't much passing there was more than enough drama to make up for it. Shame Brightie's gamble didn't come off. Last 20 laps were brillant. All in all still one of the best races anywhere. Roll on Indy :D
