Entry list shows 47 cars entered.
Top 35 - Mark Martin in #01, Bill Elliott in #21, Ricky Rudd in #88 but they probably still have Kenny available if needed. No changes to cars in top 35, Kyle Petty is now in 34th only 1 point ahead of 35th, but there's +100 gap to 36th.
Need for speed cars - No #37 entered. Jon Wood in Wood Bros. #147.

Jayski has a paragraph on his news page. They've cut back on going to some races. (IMO presumed reason $)

from nascar.com :
Ryan Newman's Dodge qualified second at 174.893 mph ...
but the car failed inspection because the roof was too low ...
Newman will start Sunday's race from the back ...
==================================================
I bet Newman is glad he didn't make the Chase now ...
if he had made the Chase this would be devastating. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/gr8link/orn/00.gif

The revised Kansas Starting Line-up :

Stan, correct me if I am wrong, but don't the drivers in that particular lane just move up, or is that only when a driver makes an engine change or something like that?

RaceFanStan
29th September 2007, 04:31
If there is an unapproved engine change or when a driver goes to a back-up car ...
he takes the field in his qualified position but before the green flag he drops to the back ...
the other drivers just move up in whatever lane the driver was in.

However when a driver's qualifying time is DQ'ed he takes the field in the back ...
NASCAR resets the positons BEFORE the race & the drivers line-up in the revised order.

Very shady finish. Change the lap limit twice, ok. Then, no GWC, hmmm, but OK. However, Bifle should not have won that race if he could not maintain pace car speed. Bowyer should have won.

Also, Jimmie Johnson is a dummy. He wanted to be second, lol, hello, if Bowyer wins its worse for you points wise. It's only your job, why would you know how the points work.

1st October 2007, 01:39
Yeah, there was some controversy. I was miffed because they didn't have the GWC. Don't tell me it was too dark.

Wow, a bunch of drivers took it on the nose in points.

BobbyC
1st October 2007, 01:43
Jimmie said he plans a protest and the team probably has paid their $500 to NASCAR to protest the finish based on failure to keep pace car speed.

Jimmie lost two positions in a 2004 race at Pocono when he failed to keep pace car speed during a fake pit road maneuvre.

Race finish protests have happened in the past; in 1984, Neil Bonnett's illegal pass at the Music City Motorplex to win the race was invalidated in a protest.

I don't think that's worse in the points. If Biffle is scored as dropping back into about 5th/6th, then Johnson picks up 5 points on about 7-9 chasers and just loses an extra 5 points to Bowyer. I'd take that math. (also I'm sure he doesn't consider Bowyer as much as a threat to win the championship as he does Gordon, Stewart, Harvick, Hamlin.)

Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were both wrecked on the last lap of the race by Brian Vickers at Talladega last year. The caution came out. They finished in the 20's and not 2nd and 3rd. NASCAR's explanation: They failed to maintain their position on the track/under caution/with the pace car.

What is the explanation for Bifle's fradulent victory?

Bad officiating today. Plain terrible.

True, buttttt Nascar REALLY hates to take a win away from a driver and will look for a excuse not to do so.

You make a valid point there, but looking at the points as they stand and based on how well Bowyer has run, I think he is a bigger threat than anyone 100+ points back. Still, an argument can be made both ways.

it was near dark, the camera's make it look like daylight still. I think Nascar has alot of explaining to do why they restarted the race and never fully cleaned the track causing a 7-8 car pileup on the first lap of the restart
