"Team mates"

Looking at some teams today the above term seems a little out of date.

Team Drivers, is that what we should now be calling them?

You maybe right

I've been better familiar with 'team drivers' instead of 'team mates', the last term usually more refers to teammate. :)

I'd still call them teammates. Just like we always have been, even through past bitter rivalries.

Indeed. If Prost and Senna were "teammates", I don't see why anybody else shouldn't be called like that :D

I've been arguing that point for a while.
In today's F1 and in most racing series the concept of a teammate is as loosely defined as possible. So all the usuall sports alliterations about teamwork and teammate don't hold up in motor sports.

With one noticble exception, the Lemans Series, but they share a car in that case and are not "competing" against each other.

Thought children prefer read comics rather than F1 :)

I thought you knew that not all people under 25 years old are children ;)

I know that, but in the US and the rest of the world including OZ those under 18 must be children ;)

If you want to be broad then everyone is someones child ;)

Back on topic...

That's ok, I took no offense :p :

Also another point about the phrase 'team drivers'... it doesn't flow off the tounge at all. I couldn't imagine commentators saying that phrase for a whole GP without just giving up!

Team drivers refer to both drivers at the same team
Teammate refer to someone drives at the same team with a driver
Teammates refer to persons drive at the same team with a driver

Team mates = Jones and Reutemann, Prost and Arnoux :p :
