I was pondering that now we're in the 'off-season' as far as SCSA/PuT events are concerned, whether people might like to meet up over the winter - nothing fancy, maybe close to Rockingham, maybe not.

I'm happy to try and get something sorted if people ARE interested, however I wonder how achievable it is to get a convenient date AND location.

What do you all think? One possibility might be the Rally at Rockingham in early December....

Thoughts?

Or the British F3/GT meeting at the end of the month.

I am up for it but won't be at Pembury and doubtful for the F3 meet, open to other suggestions.

I'm doubtful for the December date - already have a commitment which I've already paid for.

Think a race meet may be a good idea as otherwise we'd have to think of venue hire etc. The last time we had one we were lucky to have Jeff loan us space at Rockingham, but don't think this is gonna happen anymore...

It'd be nice to be able to put some faces to names, but the logistics could be a problem - remember the thread about how far people come to the Rock? Still, F3/GT would work for me if anyone else is at that meeting.

How about the gate to the gantry at the F3/GT meeting? I'll be there but I doubt if I'll get time to go into the inner paddock.

I was actually thinking of being away from a race event (for those of us working these, we have zero time to get away) and sometime over the off-season when we're desperate for some racing.

My thought was a pub lunch and an afternoon in the pub, but timing and location could be a problem.

Sounds good to me, DS.

When I said race meeting, I was just thinking a non-Rock something where we can just watch and chinwag.

I always thought a forum karting event, if we could get a few v8 and put drivers along, would be a great way of meeting everyone.

I'll be up for this,
If you want Karting then how about Whilton Mill, near Daventry http://www.whiltonmill.co.uk/index.php, fairly central as well. Thers a few nice pubs nearby as well.

I've spoken with Henry about this in the past.

He had words with Rye House at Hoddesdon.
2 hour endurance race
25 teams of 3 people £170 per team
So 75 drivers and they (Rye House) on the day will give us back a cheque of 20% of the meeting money.
So if my maths is right for 25 teams its about £850 for charity plus any other fund raising ideas on the day.
Could be a good end of season bash if some of the other teams join in?

Any thoughts?

Rob.

Yeah that’s a great idea!

I spoke to a few circuits (including some already mentioned) prices for this sort of event were similar, but we had to pay normal rates then give any extra money we raised to charity.

We would have a good event at Rye house and the charity would get a cheque, plus any other fund raising ideas we had on the day. A bit of promotion for the series too I’m sure we could have a car turn up in the car park earlier in the day!

Will be there with PapaJuliet marshalling, so do say hello if you're there (look for Safety Team overalls). Looks to be a cracking set of drivers!
