It was great to see everyone again at the weekend, and get to play in the temple of motorsport that is RMS.
There is so much goodwill and excitement around the SCSA series, and we really need to channel this into a viable plan to take things forward for 2008.
I will do anything I can to help get us 25 cars on the grid for the first round next year. That has to be the target.
Meanwhile, thanks to John for letting me loose with the car. I haven't told him how close to disaster we were on the last lap when the right front exploded as I turned in to 2...
Thanks also to Bobby for all his support and expert spotting, to Nigel and all the crew, and to Duane for fixing the deal.
Finally thanks to everyone who took the time to say hello and wish me well; it really was good to be back.

BTW - The 31 car was SO mine...damn that puncture!

Puncture, turn 2, car 31, deja vu moment? ;)
Glad to see one of the 'characters' back out - I hope the relevant people bite your hand off with your offer to help build the series for '08.

Hehe....I love racing driver's egos...Never let the facts get in the way of a good story eh?
Thing is, you lapped me once Duncan, when I was crawling to the pits with a puncture. Before that, we were very much on the same lap, and I was reeling you in at between 4 and 8 tenths a time.
Anyway you can tell your mother you beat me!

Skid, I did say in another post that I would come down and shake your hand if you raced but when I came down to the garages I think you must have been in the drivers briefing....sorry I missed you. Thanks for putting on a good race with all the other drivers for us fans...here's looking forward to 2008, hope you will be part of the action again ;)

Cheers mate; you were the chap who bought one! Won't be long before they're on ebay. Collectors' items they are.
Actually if you'd like to send it to me, I'll wear it round the house for a few hours and mail it back. Then it'll be worth even more. "As worn by..." etc.
Maybe not.

Lol I'd love to but I gave it to Daz, who later became Tony Mumford's crew chief. He became a bit of a Skid fan after sitting in your car one evening... It didn't fit me anyway, I'd have had to buy two and stich them together.
No, I'm not buying another one ;)

Great save Skid! I was observing on turn 2 & was ready to dive for cover when I saw the tyre go with you pointed straight at me. Shame you didn't finish but it was great to see you out there again. Hope to see you back for a full season in 2008.

Good driving at the weekend Skid shame about the puncture.
I think the attached picture sums up the series pretty well, where else would you have a Team owner and mechanic and (soon to be) series champion helping repair someone else car?
Last off-season was better than previous years, so lets see if we can keep news/reviews etc. on the web site and keep promoting the series. Next season has just started.

Like all car owners, we're waiting patiently for our 2008 dates - or at least a good idea of what we'll get.
Unlike other BRSCC run championships (we are run by ourselves, but the BRSCC holds the permit), we will know much sooner. I'd say, within a month for 80% of the timetable for next year.
I already have one invite for the car to be at the Autosport International show next January, but with my guys, we're working going one (or two!) better!! And we'll show them who's finished!! Not us!
So, the yellow peril has to be fixed up asap, looking shiny and bright.
And then there's plan B..... a plan so cunning, you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
Rob.

already working on next year, well getting 15 cars at the track was working on next year anyway so thanks to everyone who got cars out and kept Rob on track.
the good news is that we put smiles on faces by eventually getting the numbers up, i know the BRSCC are rather bemused by it as we was only 10 in number for thier events but it was not done on purpose it was just the way it worked out this year.
i said on here the numbers would be up, i was blasted for it, they were and we nearly had 17 but Martin could not get his ready due to damage on his Pick up and having Flu, getting in the team Networking car was great and we thank him for that.
Steve Hobday was away on Holiday and could not get a medical in time.
we have had a number of guy's looking at buying cars this weekend, we have a number of drivers wanting to take a rookie test, so much so that currently there is not enough whole cars availible for them to drive.
its very positive right now, as soon as we know, you will know.

Duane, good luck with the organisation for 2008. Against all the odds you, your team, drivers, crews, safety/marshalls, Rockingham Staff (I could go on..) managed to get through 2007. From a fans view, which I am, I have read numerous posts and articles from various sources about how committed everyone is to making the series work. Obviously, I don't know one half of what goes on behind the scenes but from the 'front end' it's now looking a whole lot better than the start of the year. I will be purchasing 3 season passes next season :) (assuming that is still an option?) and look forward to seeing a few more V8's on the grid. I must admit, I was not really bothered about going to the motorfest but I'm pleased I did now after seeing the V8's racing...The series really needed the weekend to work and credit to everyone, you did a brilliant job. This has been mentioned before but if we the fans can do anything to assist in getting more people through the gates (flyer distribution etc etc) let us know.
Good luck
John

That's easy Laura, commit to sitting on our car/s full time! Stop playing around with the pickups and come play with the big boys, if Josh can do it, so can you. Heck your whole family's in on the act. ;)

I forget Laura's been around the garages as long as I have, just 16 years old. I can't even remember back to when I was 16, I certainly wasn't hanging around ovals by that time, or was I?

Too many right turns for me. All I ever remember even as a little kid was being around short ovals, I could direct you to swaffham from my house even now if I jsut close my eyes and I haven't been there for years. Then it was on to Alwalton for a few years, bigger track, but not as fondly held in my heart as headinging through the edges of Thetford forest to that wonderful little short track just off the A47.
Anyway, we're getting a little off topic now. I blame Bob, simply 'cos I can, lol. Don't be dissing me merc again, someone else is going to own it in a few hrs.

Most of my mates were into rallycross or touring cars; that's the kind of racing I saw, so that's what I was into. I didn't get into oval racing until I was about 20, through the exploits of Mr. Mansell and his Indycar shenannigans.
Then I got Eurosport and started to follow Champ Car and their piss poor NASCAR coverage and didn't look back, but that's how I missed out the short oval stuff. Aycliffe had closed down and no-one I knew went to Barford so we used to just go and hang around the Rallycross track at Croft. Saw some insane beasts there, but then they did the track up and it was never the same without the massive kerb at Hawthorn which made unwary drivers roll over into the tyre wall...
