This may sound odd but now more than ever I cant wait for the next WRC event. Too see the rest pay their respects and do what he absolutely loved in his honor would make things feel a bit better for me.
I wish I had the funds to make it out for laughlin to navigate or volunteer or anything. My helmet will definatley be sporting an official colin sticker once it comes out.

i know it's different but it's sort of when steve erwin died, it's like, it's not supposed to happen that way.. it's just one of these weird things, just not that way.
I totally agree with you. I feel the same as when Steve Irwin died. Steve and Colin were more like superheroes to me. And it's just like, "How can superheroes die?" He was one of those good guys who so passionately loved what he did and changed the world with his work. And it just seems so unfair that they have to die while still actively involved in their job.

Did read it on Eurosport saturday evening and got to bed, when i wake up it was clear Colin was indeed involved in this tragic accident. This was already really sad news, but now even more because the death of his son and his buddy also, 2 young childs, can't find the words for it. All the best to the family's.
Colin, you're indeed one of the legends in the WRC, you had your own style, as Dave Richards describes a "go for it" character, one world title is for sure not the right figure how good you are in a rally car, although 25 wins is saying also something and believe me, your name will be there for a long time. RIP

The words here all express the sadness and shock we all feel about the loss of Colin McRae, but they also show how greatly he was loved and admired by motorsport fans around the world and that says so much about the man. His achievements and skill will never be forgotten.
My thoughts are with his family at this time.
RIP Colin.

This post will come from the whole thought of this household.
We are all very saddened by this, epscially my mum who really liked him for who he was.
He was a great driver and an even nicer guy. He brought a new life into WRC and seeing him drive was always exciting.
Saddened for the McRae household and also McRae's son, his freind and a close family freind.
First Richard Burns and now Col. I dread to think who next.
Left without words at this sad time
R.I.P Colin McRae

I cannot begin to imagine how the families involved will come to terms with this tragedy.
I can remember exactly where I was when Colin won his world championship, I had smuggled a radio into my office and secretly listened to the last minute of the stage on Radio 5. I will always remember where I was when I heard of Colin's death just like Beef and Richard Burns before him.
Tomorrow I will be remembering Michael 'Beef' Park as it will be 2 years since his untimely death on Rally GB.
My sincere condolences to the families involved.

I am still in numb with shock and in total disbelief
While growing up, youngsters tend to look towards fictional or paper super heroes as there role models or guiding lights. For me in the late 80’s early 90’s my super hero was a real life character in the form of one man “Colin McRae “his natural ability charisma and flare endeared me to the sport and I followed his progress passionately right up to the very end. First and foremost thanking you for the many wonderful memories you bought to us
I feel fortunate to have witnessed the sheer skill of Colin on a number of occasions each time I saw him blast through a special stage be it through the forests on the RAC or Tarmac lanes of Ireland he brought excitement and amazement to spectators the crackle of disbelief that rang out through the crowd after you past through the stage the gasp of disbelief at his indescribable car control and raw speed the man possessed The “McRae Effect” rang out loud each time with approval. It saddens me that we will never again see you drive. Never will there be a drive that will equal you again.
In your native Scotland and Britain you were a Sporting icon but over here in Ireland you were an absolute God for the many thousands of your fans, you man be gone but your memory will live strong for every
I wish to express my condolences to the McRae family for Colin’s loss there are no words that can describe the void that is left
Rest in Peace Colin Johnny Ben and Duncan
Thanks for the memories Colin
Rest in Peace

Terrible News and Condolences to all affected, especially close friends and Family. There's a tribute Podcast on wrc.com featuring Nicky Grist, David Richards and Martin Whittaker, DR sounding very emotional as to be expected, it's a good tribute to the McRae the Legend,

Still don't think it has sunk in. can't think of anything to say other than the way he drove a car and the way he came across in interviews was what attraced me to rallying more than anything.
I hope Allison and the Mcrae family can take something from the fact that millions of people are sharing their grief.
