Haha...

Judged by the beauty - definitely Ford RS 200 ... followed by Lancia 037 Rally. And the ugliest?? Citroen BX TC4!!!

Citroen BX TC4 as the best group B car ever! It's nice to find a rally car I can outrun in my Hyundai.

But in all seriousness, The final incarnation of the Audi Quattro. I just love the sound. Brutal.

difficult...
the quattro because it began 4wd
the quattro s1 for the fantastic looks and that noise!
205t16 e2 because it was so good everywhere and was so light with spaceframe chassis (i think it also had a primitive antilag system)
delta s4 because it was mad. supercharged and turbocharged, spaceframe also
rs 200 because it had so much potential

i just like all of them...

Audi Quattro S1 Evo 2 without doubt, pure monster,

Somewhat misleading as Audi didn't dip their toes into the Group B pool until after others if I'm not being confused. 205 T16 Evo 2 for me.

037 for me. I just love the look of it. Although my all time favourite car regardless of era would be the Stratos. I'd give both Daniel's nuts for one of them!

Daniel
28th December 2006, 00:42
I'd sooner cut my own nuts off and feed them to sheep then let you trade them for a Stratos :p

You're now on 666 posts. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heathen! The Stratos is the most beautiful rally car of all time. A pox upon you and your descendants!

Daniel

Yes but I like my nuts more than I like you or the Stratos :p

No offence or anything :p

The early Audi Quattro was somehow the frontrunner of Group B, so you can say they were one of the first.

For my opinion, nothing looks better than a asphalt-outfitted Lancia Rally 037. Of Course, on gravel, it was great looking too

I think we can all agree that the BX must have been the ugliest of them all, altough the back of the car looks 'dangerously' good to me!

I was actually lucky enough to stumble across an 037 in a service station in Corsica earlier this year and the guy working on it was more than happy for me to take a few snaps with my camera.

My top 5 are...

1. Ford RS200
2. Audi Quattro S1
3. Lancia 037
4. Peugeot 205 T16 E2
5. Mitsubishi Starion 4WD

Only just missing out, Austin Rover Metro 6R4 and Lancia Delta S4.

For me the RS200 is a very special car which seems to have a lot of mystery about it. Especially since it only did a few World Rally Championship rallies. You can't judge this car by it's overall results as it only has two decent results, that of Kalle Grundel in the 1986 Swedish Rally (3rd) and the RAC Rally (5th). But the car was way faster than that. It never did a Monte, 1000 Lakes or Safari so we never saw it on the toughest events but it did lead the Swedish and Acropolis both with Stig Blomqvist and Kalle Grundel (the latter only). It did win the British Rally Championship with Mark Lovell but we never saw it's true potential :( .

Another car which certainly interests me is the Starion. I have only ever seen a few pictures. If anyone has pictures or movies of this car it would be appreciated. PM me

Lancia 037: Not only for its looks but because it meant the last effort of RWD against 4WD, it clearly lost the battle but that beauty put up a great fight before fading.

Metro 6R4: Probably the worst of them all, but beautiful sound and it looked so tiny compared to the other monsters that it was just lovely.

Lancia Delta S4: Not especially beautiful but I loved the sound of the turbo and the supercharger and then of course that Martini Livery made every car much more pleasing.

I like the Mazda because we have an RX-7 rallycar (no, not a group B), but why did you put 4x4 in the list??? They were all RWD.

My favourite car is the Metro, I prefer its V6 above all others. Followed in no particular order by the Nissan (the sound reminded me of an Escort), the Opel Ascona and the 911. I put the emphasis on going sideways accompanied by nice sound. :D

The quattro because it was an inovator.

But I thought the RS200 would win the 1987 championship because of its potential.

Tough one...I always liked Peugeot (not just because my favourite driver was in one). Manta is also absolutely beautiful. But the best of them all has to be Ford RS 200. A true rallycar! If only I had seen one in action...

In 1973 I had a Opel Kadett GTE group2, that car was really fun to drive!
Before that I drove with a Ford Mexico 1600 MK1 and Ford RS2000.

Ok itīs off toppic and not Group B, but that was my personal rally experience when I was still young! :D

The Metro 6R4 was easily the best looking in its blue and white livery!!
Some have mentioned in this post that the 6R4 sounded great, does anyone have any mp3's or wav's of it??

Sunbeam Lotus, of course. But I'm just a little biased!
4WD has to be Audi S1 Quattro.

Do you mean that you donīt know what it sounds like? If so, clik here

Start with Harri Toivonen (second last). It does sound unique...

And the original topic,

Peugeot 205 T16 Evo2, thatīs my favorite because of itīs speed. Second comes the Audi Quattro S1 "Monster".

BTW, the first Audiīs were NOT group B. They were first in something, 4wd. They were Group 4 or group A, I canīt remember exactly. Iīd quess they were group 4. But in something they were the Pioneers.

A tough one for me, I love the Quattro, the 037 and the Lancia Delta S4.

Thankfully I was lucky enough to see all the GpB cars in action, I took this back in 1986 (I think?) on the RAC

Nice one indeed. Very jealous right now ;)

BTW, seeing the number 6 on the car, it's got to be Henri Toivonen's Lancia S4 at the '85 RAC.
