Yamaha World Supersport Team 2008 Rider Line up

"The Yamaha World Supersport Team is pleased to announce their rider line up for 2008, ahead of next weekend’s race at Lausitz in Germany. Australian Broc Parkes will remain with the team and he will be joined by the French former Supersport world champion Fabien Foret.

2008 will be Broc’s sixth year challenging in the World Supersport Championship and his fourth with Yamaha. 25 year-old Parkes plans to fight for the world title this year were hampered by injury early on in the season when he broke his collar bone at Donington in April. In spite of this, Parkes has been in contention for top positions at each of the other events this year. Following his first win of the season at Brands Hatch last month, he is now looking to finish the year on a high and is targeting third position in the championship and still has a mathematical chance to finish 2nd.

Fabien Foret, aged 34, joins the Yamaha World Supersport team with a good pedigree behind him. He was World Supersport Champion in 2002 and is currently second in the championship, having won this year’s Philip Island round. The Frenchman, who is known for being a hard charger on the track, has ten race wins and twelve more podiums to his name in addition to the title. Foret is no stranger to Yamaha, having ridden in the Supersport championship for the Yamaha Motor Italia team in 2004 and he rode for the German-based team at Lausitz last year as a stand-in rider, where he made a strong impression on the team by finishing third without any prior testing time on the bike. He brings with him a wealth of experience covering entries in Superstock, Supersport and Superbike championships.

The 11th round of the 2007 World Supersport Championship will take place this coming weekend in Germany."

Bleh! Why would you waste your time on Foret aka Mr Racewhilelookingbehind!? O'Halloran or Tommy Hill would of been my picks.. Strange one..

2007 designated replacement rider Steve Martin will take part at Lausitz, this time he will be riding a Suzuki for Team Celani replaceing Alessandro Polita that had surgery to his shoulder.

Its an one-race deal but if the Italian is not able to ride again before the end of the season, Martin could ride for the remaining three rounds

Tommy Hill will also be at Lausitz racing for Yamaha at world supersport

No-one seems to know what has happened to Kev Curtain... international man of mystery.

Toseland for the double. The Ten Kate Superbike is historically very strong towards the end of the season and Toseland is in peak form.

Ducati will be concentrating on the 1098 atm so development of the 999 will suffer.

Suzuki could surprise... Yamaha as always will figure in the outcome too.

rain today durring qualifying so all riders were slowest than Friday , Friday's top 16 to superpole

superpole was “wet” (meaning riders can do up to 12 laps all together)

Fonsi Nieto and Regis Laconi got their times at the start of the session, before the weather got worst and a lot of riders crashed (including Toseland)

Things got better near the end and Bayliss got third and Corser 4th.

Well so much for my Toseland prediction.

Great to see Haga and Bayliss rewarded for their consistent efforts all year.

Only two rounds / four races to go. Toseland is still looking good, the battle for 2nd in the title might tie the protagonists up enough to keep Toseland in the clear. Toseland is 41 points clear of Haga, with 100 points maximum available till season's end. Haga only 12 points clear of Biaggi. Bayliss on 296, and could conceivably overhaul Haga/Biaggi for second.

Two ZX-10Rs on the front row looked great!
