View Full Version : 2007 Forum Awards

Reynard
2nd September 2007, 12:36
It has come round to the time of year to vote for the 5th Annual Forum Awards – the awards where members of this discussion board can demonstrate our appreciation for the hard work put in by all of the drivers and teams. As last year, apart from the top two categories for best driver, you can vote for either a Mac Tools V8 driver/car/team OR a pick-up driver/car/team.

The seven award categories to vote in are as follows:

1) Best Mac Tools V8 Driver
2) Best Truck Driver
3) Best Rookie
4) Most Improved Driver
5) Best Sportsman
6) Best Team
7) Best Paint Job

Each category winner will receive a memento in acknowledgment of their achievement. As this year’s Rockingham finale is at Motorfest, I won’t have the time to organize a presentation. Unless anyone can come up with a suggestion, the winners’ certificates will be posted to them after the vote closes.

The following criteria must apply to the nominees in the given categories:

BEST DRIVER (V8 & PUT): awarded to the driver who has consistently delivered outstanding performances throughout the entire season.

BEST ROOKIE: awarded to the best novice driver i.e. those who are competing in their first FULL season on the Rockingham oval and have driven in no more than two races in 2006. Eligible drivers are Rob Compton (V8) and Steve Arnold and Neil Tressler (PUT).

MOST IMPROVED DRIVER: awarded to the driver who has shown the most improvement in his or her performances during the course of the 2007 season.

BEST SPORTSMAN: awarded to the driver who has demonstrated the most honest, open and sporting behaviour both on and off the track throughout the year.

BEST TEAM: awarded to the team that has maintained the best contribution to the series, performance, effort, presentation and public image throughout the season.

BEST PAINT JOB: awarded to the team whose car is deemed to have the most striking and well-presented livery on the grid. Note: the livery must have been carried on a car for at least two meetings.

* * *

The provisional deadline for voting is 2 p.m. on Friday 14th September – if a presentation cannot be organised for Motorfest, then this deadline will be extended by a week.

Team members and Drivers are welcome to vote in the poll but they may not vote for themselves or the cars with which they are involved. IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU CANNOT CAST A VOTE IN A PARTICULAR CATEGORY, PLEASE LEAVE IT BLANK.

Please read the rules and category criteria carefully before voting – late or ineligible votes will NOT be counted.

Reynard,
Can I suggest an additional catagory for best web site?
It takes a lot of work, time and effort to build and maintain these sites and keep them up to date.
These guys who do have web sites, are our source of entertainment between race meetings and some of them do a fantastic job, just think they deserve some recognitioin for their efforts towards us the race fans.
Dont wish to upset the norm, just a suggesstion.

Could not agree more, we run a site for a scout group and its really hard work, some of the sites amongst the Mac V8/ PUT team are fantastic and must take a lot of commitment, Gets my vote!

I'm sorry, but no. For those of you who are not aware of the fact, I do pay for these awards out of my own pocket and while I do not wish to appear ungenerous, there are no plans to further expand the voting categories.

On a lighter tone, get your votes in folks! :cheese:

Squaring things with the officials to his disadvantage? That's Wilky down to a Tee, he'd rather do it fair and square or what's the point. He's the best sportsman for me but, of course, I can't vote for him...

Your :uhoh: is correct - why post such rubbish?
Read the support for Cheerio's team through many threads on here-support is going to translate to votes.... Maybe the lurkers (and welcome they are) have made the effort to register so they can vote. At the end of the day, these awards are from 'us', and as they don't come with a $1million prize I can't see anyone trying to rig votes.

Methinks the Cherrios team have rallied "everyone who knows them" judging by all the first posters who have voted for them! ( I counted 15 ) surely not vote rigging? :uhoh:

Dave, maybe you could be our own Terry Wogan and comment on all the voting. He's for sure the only reason I ever watch the Eurovision song/neighbour contest.

I know who you all are and believe me, any ineligible votes will not be counted - have been keeping an eye out on y'all.

Voting is now extended until 5 pm on Friday 28th September. The winners in each category will be posted later that evening. Certificates will be sent out in the post.

Yes, I *know* that, but I don't have the time to organise a presentation on the day and since Mandy is no longer around, no one has offered to help. So post it will have to be.

Who's this Rob Crompton bloke? Purveyor of lightbulbs and electric motors?

:D

It's nice to see soooo many people joining us. If they all came to the meetings too, we'd have a grandstand full :)

Rob. (Compton)

I've never heard of him.......

Reynard

You didn't miss the presentation at Motorfest because there wasn't one. :( Working on the fenceline I don't have the time to do all the organisational legwork and there were no offers of help.

That is why the certificates will be reaching their recipients in the post.

Right folks, the votes for the forum awards are now closed.

I am going to lock the thread and go off and do a bit of maths. The results will be posted later this evening.

Thanks again all for voting.
