Any truth in this? Wilky heard from Martin Heath who read it in the newsletter... Or did he mean 'radios mandatory at Brands'?

Can anyone shed light on the subject? If it's spotters mandatory then I can't go; prior commitments and too-short notice to change it, and all that...

Hi Abo,

The newsletter said '......Earlier this year we (PUT Management) mande arrangements with Autotel to gain Pickup Truck licensing to use radios at a number of road circuits, Brands is one of these circuits. At the moment BRSCC are in talks with Brands Hatch to obtain a specific area for the spotters to opperate from, Barbara will inform you on Saturday of the allocated area.'

Like you this is news to me and I've not been asked to come along and try and keep you all in order :) either so I'll see you 'up top' for MotorFest.

Dunno why we suddenly need spotters as Brands anyway. We haven't for the last umpteen times we've been there...

Wilky's digging the stock car out again for Motorfest, so you've got double me on the spotter's gantry again, I'm afraid... :p :

Hey, I'll put up with that all day long if it means another V8 on the grid.

Have you found a sunstrip wide enough for him yet? :)

Abo,

The radios aren't for spotting at Brands but just for General communication between Drivers and pit crews during the Practice's and races we did use them earlier in the year at Croft, hope this helps

Yeah I thought that might be the case, it's just the newsletter speaking about 'spotters' set alarm bells off lol

If that's true then I can't see the sense in it. Plus I can't make it. Anyone care to take over for the weekend?

Very short notice, if someone's prepared to cover my fuel costs and has a ticket I can spot, I'd imagine most teams are there already though.

Where would you be spotting from? From memory, the only place you can see the whole circuit from is the commentators/race control ivory tower, and you'd have to keep circulating to see....

Man, that called memories of Mallory Park straight into my head! All running from side to side in the tower as the trucks went round lol.

All Toovey built as well, that was a new engine last time out at Rockingham, but I've been saying since 2005 to Tony to switch engine suppliers. :(

They may be cheap but how many you gotta buy in a season?? isn't it cheaper to buy a decent engine in the first place??????

Abo

Not when it's a choice of buying a dogs bollocks engine *or* a cheaper engine and say, reshelling panel damage...
