Having watched the footage many times of Italian national rally championship, this guy has really got my attention with very flamboyant style of driving. I know he is driving with female co-driver ( his wife ? ) but that's all I know. His website apparently seem to be Italian :s

Not going to post this on ERC side of the forum as I hope someone here can give me further information about Paolo and his career ? :)

Also, if anybody know his future plans ?

Cheers in advance.

Yeah, that guy is awesome! It's a pitty FIAT kicked him out last year, he is IMO way better than Navarra. If you see how he can handle his Mitsu this eyear against a Basso and a Rosetti, it is awesome; really.

Top driver with loth of commitment!

For more info on drivers always check rallybase first, great site:

Paolo Andreucci is one of the best Italian drivers.
He is a very talented driver, with a particular style, he is always spectacular and very very fast, no matter the car. He was successful with Gr A cars, Gr N, WRC, S1600, S2000 and know he is back to Gr N again.

In the middle of 90's Ucci (his nickname in Italy) started to have some status in Italian Rallys, and teams started to give him some nice cars to get better results.

A picture of him driving a Clio in Rally del Ciocco 1994. (http://www.forninoracing.it/Immagini/Andreucci_94.jpg)
It was his first big title, he won F2 Champ.
In 1996 he started with a spectacular Clio Maxi (http://www.forninoracing.it/Immagini/Andreucci_96.jpg)and once again he was F2 Champion again.

I think it was in 1997 (if wasn't 97 it was 98) when he switch to a Mégane Maxi that he had several problems with FIA. It was during Sanremo Rally, Andreucci was doing some brilliant times with his Mégane, but he eventually did some illegal reconnaissance of the itinerary and was DQ. Maybe it was the critical point of Andreucci's career... It could be the reason why he never got an International program :(

Then he started to drive Impreza WRC with Procar.
He did some international rallys, for example Madeira, were, I had the opportunity (http://www.landshow.pt/ucci1.jpg)to see this brilliant driver in action. It was in 1999 but I will never forget him. It's a kind of driver that you never forget (http://www.landshow.pt/ucci2.jpg) :)

Then he drove a Focus WRC from Procar (http://www.adriatuning.it/images/service/guidasport_andreucci001.jpg) and was Italian champion.

In 2002 he moved to Fiat (http://www.paoloandreucci.com/images/zoom/SUHIWZ/viewsize/1000m_1.jpg) Team as a works driver and started to drive in the new category S1600. Between 2002 and 2005 he was always S1600 Champion. In 2003 he joined the S1600 title with overall title too :)

He developed the first ever S2000 car, The Punto S200 and in the first year he was Italian Champion!

He did some participations in Polish Champ. with Fiat S1600 and S2000 to show the potential of Fiat Cars.

In 2007 he moved to Ralliart Italy, the target was to prove that a conventional Gr N Car still competitive against S2000. It isn't easy to sow taht, but in some events Andreucci proved that a TOP Gr N Car with a TOP driver can do it with some lucky...

When he was driving the S1600 he was Subaru test driver too. He used to test Prodrive cars in specially in Tarmac roads. This year he did some tests with Pirelli tyres in order to help Pirelli to develop they tyres for 2008 WRC.
Sometime ago, there was a rumor that Andreucci could run some WRC events with Pirelli.

Has HAco said before, his future plans... I suppose is to continue in Italian Champ... I think he deserve an opportunity in IRC!!

You can see the difference from Ucci "the poet of the street" compared to the other Punto S2000 drivers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHi_ObtOd40

I think he's one the best italian driver ever, if not the best. Pity he never had his chance on WRC.

Andreucci and Aghini are the most underated drivers ever.....both could be easily full time factory drivers.

Don't forget Piero Liatti, a really tarmac specialist...!!

Yes, but he was pretty good on gravel too as I recall. The Seat move didn't do him good I think. As for Aghini, he did drove for the Mitsubishi outfit, and of course Lancia in '92, which can be compared with Citroën in 2006.

The high moment of his career was the victory in Monte Carlo 1997 when he was a Subaru factory driver. ;)
Well, but this thread is about Paolo Andreucci..

I know, but he was pretty good on the pace in '95 and '96 (and probably his remaining years with Subaru too), let alone his early days with Lancia.

Yes, it's about Andreucci, but it seems were blending some other Italians in it too, who deserve more credit then they get :)

Yeah, I remember San Remo in either 1997/98 when he was fastest on the first stage in the fantastic Renault Maxi Megane.

His codriver is Anna Andreussi; she's not his wife. Even several Italians on the stages, who don't follow rally so much, confuse the driver surname, Andreucci, with the codriver's one, Andreussi... :-)

Anna is on board with Ucci since mid 2001 and they won so many titles together!

Well, you're not completely right when you write that Fiat kicked him out. It was a matter of sponsorships. Paolo Andreucci brought his "historical" fuel partner ERG, while Fiat had the chance to get the money from another Italian fuel partner, API-IP, so the conflict between the sponsors posed Andreucci the choice to abandon his own sponsorship or move to another team keeping his pocket full...

That's why Italian Rally Championship 2007 Grande Punto Abarth has API-IP stickers and Ralliart Italy shines with ERG brand.

I came back again! After going to Scandinavia for Rally Norway, I was a bit absent from the forums and the rallying communities.
I was very busy at racing in mountain bike races during the whole Italian spring and summer. During next weekends I will take part to the last events and my next target is Rally Ireland!
