San Remo rally is finished , so I had time to take some photos of my rebuild 1/43 rally cars.
All of those cars I have seen in Nature at this specific rally, and I am happy that I found some belgium and dutch decals producers of this decals.

I am sorry that I am not able to find decals from the german Championship and also Barum 2009

It's getting there slowly. Body is almost finished up. It's sitting on my mockup chassis that's why the brakes are white. Kit is a Tamiya gravel edition modified into a Monte Carlo 99 edition.

Next stage is the real chassis and will be able to wrap this one up. Will be building the Tamiya 1999 Rally New Zealand Evo 6 straight after to accompany this one.
Will be a Tommi car as you can guess from the start number on the door.

Is the Skoda a good quality model? Been debating whether to get it or wait for Ixo.

IMO it's a match if not better than an Ixo! Interior and paint finish are flawless on both the Kopecky and Hanninen versions. At first I thought they were missing aerials etc but think the works cars didnt have any so that is ok as well! If you are buying watch for some wildly varying prices. I'm going to advetise my spares at about £25 but seen them as high as £30+!

The big companies are Ixo, Altaya, Minichamps and Vitesse. Most people have a favourite one for quality and price.
Ebay is very good for 2nd hand models that can be very cheap. Also, check your PM in a min.

Just finished this one up. The 2000 Monte Carlo machine Makinen drove.
It's a Tamiya 1:24 scale model with complete Marlboro aftermarket decals.
Modified the 1999 Rally NZ version to accommodate tarmac suspension.

V Rare, knew I should have bought them when they were for sale but spent all together on the two of them.... 500+ Euro.

I'm happy with that Purchase! Unpackaged but the boxes have a it of wear and tear but the cars are MINT!

It´s a shame that IXO have never built this model in 1/43, like so much other Super 1600. Some months ago I decided to let build a Peugeot 206 S1600 and on the base of a Solido WRC it´s in my opinion not a bad solution ;-)

I have been collecting 1/18 scale Rally car models for many years. and time to time I am trying to create custom projects creating 1 of 1's.

This time, I tried to replicate a Ford Focus WRC prepared by M Sport UK. This car had been prepared and run by M Sports for the German privateer driver Antony Warmbold and hisco-pilot Emma Price.
Eventhough I believe that the rally soul is the gravel events and cars, I like the look of the Tarmac cars better. therefore, I have chosen the first leg of the 2003 WRC season, Monte Carlo rally.
Sebastien Loeb & Daniel Elena won the event with their Citroen Xsara WRC while Antony Warmbold & Emma price finished the rally 11th over all.

I am a fan of Mc Rae and I have the same model car in my collection with many others he had driven in his career.
this was a spare car I have in hand which I decided to use it for a custom project and it turned out Warmbold car due to its color.

Some interesting news from czech brand Abrex.
Their Fabia S2000 in 1/18 scale is almost finished! According to their facebook page, it will be ready at the beginning of 2013 and first confirmed version is Mikkelsen from Cyprus 2011. So I hope they will develop gravel rims, because in the pictures I have found so far there are tarmac rims.

I have no idea. If it's Solido I believe they are metal, usually priced around 25 to 40 euros, relatively cheap but they look fine.

'99 and 2000 were made by Autoart in 1/18 scale which those cars are pretty rare and expensive at this moment.
suggesting you to check ebay. some collectors are selling these models...

It's been a while since I collected model cars - I have about a dozen or so Bburago kit cars that I used to buy with my pocket money was I was about ten years old - but I was thinking of getting back into the swing of things as a hobby.

But I was curious: how long does it typically take for a car to be released as a model? For instance, I'd love to get a model of Ott Tanak's 2012 Fiesta, but I can't find any indication of when such a car might be released (in fact, I can't find any Fiestas, DS3s or John Cooper Works WRC cars). Maybe I'm just limiting my searches, but the most recent models that I can find are from 2009.

You must be doing something wrong. There is plenty of Fiestas, DS3s and also a Mini JCW WRC made by IXO Models, Norev, and also Spark Model - this company actually produce all versions of Fiesta WRC from RMC 2012, including Tanak of course.

CM's looks very nice, unfortunately they are not available in my country.
Mine either. (Canada) I ordered all of them from China. Most are around $9 with free shipping.

The detail level on them is incredible, especially for that size. They even have roll cages and rubber spares inside! Many companies wouldn't bother with that and just have a molded plastic lump to represent the spare. :p

The cars are attached through a screw. So, just take the screw off and you can take the car off.

RPM did a kit of the car from an event in its earlier years, its been sold out for years and is hard to find, a very limited diecast conversion was done more recently of the car as it appeared in later years, again its sold out as far as I know, pm me if you want more details

Understand the issue but don't worry, my IXO 1:43 'Winner Monte Carlo 1986 H.Toivonen-S.Cresto' has also not those rear rims and if you look very carfully at the videos from the days then you see Lancia drove all sorts of combinations.

while building this model, I am in need of photos of the original car. until now, found many on the net unfortunately, struggling to find photos of the rear differential and exhaust.

Hi everyone.
Rather than start a new thread with my query I would post here. I am an avid scale model builder and am currently about to start building some 1:24 scale Group B rally cars. Once the builds are finished I like to display them with photos signed by the men and women who drove them as a small personal momento.

I am after a few of our beloved 80's rally legends and wondered if anyone can steer me in the right direction to get in touch with the following people to ask if they would sign me up a photo. Walter Röhrl, Markku Alén, Timo Salonen, Björn Waldegård are the drivers who I have model kitsets for and would love to be able to display the photos with the completed kitsets.

Reviving this old thread (though only page 11 of the WRC section out of many many more :)), I thought I should share few images of my latest little project, a 1:32 scale slot car version of the Rally 037 MkII , it uses 3D printed chassis and body components and was great fun working on it as well as seeing it running. Next, as soon as I have a bit of free time, I intend to choose a suitable red spray paint and colour it. I just need to keep the momentum going until I get to 1:1 scale :). Enjoy!

Chaps and chapesses, these are trying times for the world and I truly hope you are keeping well and that we are out of the woods sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, staying home and concentrating on the daily chores and home schooling, occasionally there is time to spare for my model making hobby. Anyway, I hope the images below brighten up the day a bit (though it has to be said, we have been having gorgeous weather in the last week here in the UK).

I actually built the first 1/43 scale model in October last year (one of the red ones in the images below) and that went to Miki Biasion (1983 European rally champion with the original 037), who I met at Rally Legend. That was followed by few more models - the grey and dayglo red was given to a colleague at work as a wedding present at the start of the year, while the weathered Martini one, found its way to Carlos Sainz Sr after a chance encounter with him at the end of January. For these models I was lucky to get the last few remaining sets of Kyosho's Dslot 1/43 tyres in the couple of sizes that suit my model.

Just before we went into lock down, I got a very small and relatively accessible 3D printer from Anycubic (Photon), using liquid resin process (variation of SLA), which should be ideal for small models as in theory it is very accurate, but haven't had the time to try it out yet. If all is well, I hope to give it a go soon.

Thanks Mate, much appreciated. I somehow missed your post - I was aware of Volta's project, but hadn't seen the article in the link above, great stuff, it is so sad that Giuseppe Volta is gone, I am sure he would have given us many more reasons to pay attention to his projects.


Also, with the current lockdown in the UK, I was able to devote time to finding the right settings for my SLA desktop 3D printer and after two weeks of exhaustive activities, I am happy to say I've got something that can produce decent results. Hi guys, visiting once again Rally Legend in San Marino over the past weekend, which was moved a week ahead of its schedule to clear the coming weekend for Rally Sardinia, I did a first run for the next size up for our Rally 037 MkII project, this time in 1/6th scale and using a nitro engine, in the rally village. The size of the model and the tools required to run it, necessitated going by car from the UK through France, and as a result I am in my second day of self-isolation now back home 😊. Running a nitro engine is sure way more involved than an electric motor, but the electric motor wouldn’t have been half as cool as the nitro. Having said that, I could taste nitro fumes in my mouth for two days afterwards.
Moving the rally ahead of its schedule meant I was hard pressed to finish the model on time, in fact I left home without it being fully finished, doing the final touches in the hotel in San Marino on Saturday. As such neither the engine nor the suspension were properly tuned, but good enough for a short demonstration run in the paddock.
The running gear is from a 1/8th scale buggy (Hobao Hyper VS) – I wanted to only use the transmission from the buggy and design my own suspension, but as the timescales were very tight, I ended up using the standard suspension as well, which I have to say is plenty good enough on mechanical level.
The chassis (bolted to the standard aluminium buggy chassis), the three piece bodywork and the wheels are 3D printed in SLS nylon by Shapeways (who did a great job delivering the parts ahead of their standard schedule and to an outstanding quality), while the tyres are from Pro-Line. The engine is Trackstar ~4.5cc.
Next, all being well and once out of self-isolation, I will start working on the proper tuning of the engine and the suspension.
