I visited a store full of models recently and I was this close to buy Toni Gardemeister's Skoda Octavia. My wife said buy it if you want and I even took it to the counter but... I figured if I buy it, it won't be the last.

Shame, those are neat I have to admit.

Looks like I did the right thing.

But I tell you this. Should that model been Paasonen's Skoda Fabia, I would have thrown the reason away and buy it. God for bid that store was in Las Palmas and I'm here at Havukoski :)

No, not really. Direct advertising in forum posts isn't allowed, although the odd webpage link can be overlooked if it's done to help fellow collectors. The best thing to do is put something in your forum signature, inviting anyone who is interested to PM you and then send them the list.

Just received my Valentino Rossi Focus WRC by minichamps (Monza event) and I must say the model is spoiled by having a 2003 bumper fitted on what is a 2004/5 Focus.
The brake vents at top of front bumper on 2003 car are both sides but on 2004/5 car just on the left, did anyone else notice this bad mistake by minichamps?

Ixo are doing the Paris show/test car and Bruno Magelhes Portugese 207 S2000 in the next couple of months not sure about Norev but know Solido are doing the car in 1/18th and 1/43rd

The car in front was bought yesterday..nice model too, Solido have improved a bit in quality.. Its Loeb's Monte 2007 car, followed by Solbergs S12 from Monte 2006,Auriols Corolla from Australia 98 (both Auto art),Solbergs 2005 Monte car by Sun Star (actually a pretty good model)..Gronholms 2000 Corsica 206 is just passing(Solido again). Saw both Darniche's and Fassina's Stratos in 1/18th scale as well,think they were Sun Star. I already have Solido's version of the Darniche car,its pretty good

through the hard parts of the kit. Now onto the final parts of cockpit, then the body and it's done. Stole the body (in photo) off my old attempt as my new one was warped. Got to strip it down and start fresh with new decals...

Well the decals are from KitCar43, but I've built the transkit myself, using two cars. Now I'm with the Sierra from Blomqvist and the Porsche 911 from Röhrl, but soon I will do the 360GT that drove Basols this year, they are very easy to build and the base car easy to find.

In Spain we are praying for the Vallejo's Porsche, it's amazing...

Postage costs are more or less the same for 1, 2, 3 models, so the best is to book some cars and when you have 5 pay them and receive them.

The french collection dedicated to french rally drivers it's expected to be launched soon, so maybe in a few days you'll find it in journaux

The Jones-Decals are from a Decal-maker from France (Industrial printed)
Latvala, Touhino and the orange Jaquillard are from Rallye Miniatures (also France)
Re and Beltrami are Decals from Meri Kits (as far as i know not longer available)
The Yellow Jaquillard is home printed by a Friend of mine from France.
The Wilson/Wilson Decal is from ebay, and the Solberg i did with old parts of different Decal-Sheets.

I was pleasantly surprized to see IXO actually changed the wheel rim. The other IXO Impreza WRC2006 I have, Prodrive Edition Rally Japan version, have rim with bulky spoke, which doesn't look anything like real one.

How did you manage to erase the red "C4"?
To erase things on plastic or mirror, i use a special product that my retailer gave me. It is a cream to polish the plexiglass. i don't remember the name, i will look and tell you, but i don't know if you will find it in spain or on internet ?
Do you have solar film for the windows ?
About the left mirror, it is hard to change its position, because a hole will stay if you change it. Ixo corrected the mistake on the 2008 C4 (redbull).
There is another difference on your car, the wheels. I personnaly used norev bases to realise 2007 tarmac version (excepted Irland version, ixo wheels are ok).

Now I'm getting small, small, small... :p

I'll wait to know which polish you use in the way to change the red C4 from the rear spoiler, the other option is to paint it with black flat paint. And about that film you say to make mirror effect, I don't know which is.

I don't erase! If is a matt black plastic piece, I cover carefully with Vallejo's Matt Black applied with brush, let dry, and apply the rigth decal... If its satin or gloss black I paint over with Humbrol satin black, let dry, and apply the decal...

I think is fast and safe. But remember that every teacher has is own guidebook.

London model shops are not really devoted to model cars... In all my trips to London, I had only find a shop speciallised in model cars... Can't remember the right address, but is placed in the blocks at the rear of Trafalgar Sq, Nat'l Gallery,...

Warning: prices are really high, even for standard models (Ixo, Minichamps...), and must be paid on pounds. There's no sense to buy model cars in London.

Do you coat your decals in anything once applied to preserve them and stop them going yellow or peeling?

You can just use a standard clear-coat from a hobby shop. The reason decals 'yellow' is from sunlight. Keep the model out of the sun and you should be safe with peeling as well as yellowing. Peeling won't occur if you lay 3 coats of gloss clear on top. No worries ^^

What spray the whole model or apply by brush over the decals only? If so do you have to be careful to avoid brush marks/dust in the decal coat?

If the body has been stripped to a bare shell then that's awesome, just spray the whole thing.

If windows are in then mask them off well and spray light coats (although use enough to get a smooth finish and not the 'orange peel' look). I use the spray cans. Don't use a brush, will leave heavy brush marks and won't be even.

If you like, after the clear-coat has cured for about 2 days then use some polishing compound and this will give the 'real car' shine to the model.

I apply micro sol decal softener first then apply the decal.
Hairdryer them for about 20 seconds then apply another brushing of decal softener and leave

Microsol is good stuff! It keeps the decal adhered to the model surface better as well as softening it to contour the shapes of a body.
I always use it when building my models as the softer a decal is when adhering it to the car the better it will hold too.

I used it on the RS1800 Mikkola Escort I built. As you can see the decal on the rear fender moulded perfectly and has never lifted since I built the car 5 years ago. Super happy with the result!

Lancia Stratos Group 5 from Kyosho Giro D'Italia cars. Yes there were rally stages on tarmac so it maybe a stretch but they still qualify as rally models!

Yes I've got the Beta Monte Carlo by Best as driven by Rohrl and Villeneuve in the Giro will put that up later!

Am building a Tamiya kit of the Ford Escort Cosworth at the moment. I brought the kit second hand and will make a plain white version with the spotlights attached. It is a tarmac version and have finished the suspension tonight, tomorrow comes the cockpit. A nice looking car and will make a great addition to the collection. This is how it looks at the moment.
