Some great racing in the rain and a brillant maiden win for Lee Holdsworth (http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22272806-39478,00.html). He had something like a 49 second lead on the field in race 3 before the safety car was deployed.

Mind you some of the driving standards made BTCC look very clean.

Really went pair shaped in race 3. GRM are going to dark horses in the enduros. Can't believe the TWR cars were so bad in the wet. Ford are probably praying for more rain.

On a side note, it's a pity that Motors TV aren't showing either Sandown or Bathurst LIVE like they did in 2006!

They're not??? Frick ... What is the matter with that channel? First they drop BTCC and support races because "their coverage of the BTCC was viewed by only about 8% of the number of viewers that watch ITV coverage", even though they didn't have to pay anything to broadcast it. They even say that motorsport has a niche audience and that was one of the reasons they dropped BTCC.

Niche? Let's see what they're showing over the next couple of days:

Belgian National Motocross Championship
European Drift Championship
Irish Prodrift Series
Best of Crash 07
European Drag 2007 Championship
Alpine
European Jet Ski Championship
M80

Are touring cars more niche than any of the above?

I love the V8s but more than anything I love the V8s at Bathurst ....

It was some of the best racing I'd seen for a long time. Pity it went all wrong for Jason Richards though; commanding in race two but it just all went away when the track began to dry out, then hit from behind in race three...
