Don't think it was open series at that time but maybe others know for sure.

No, he did not.

BTW, that year Finnish Championship grpB/4 was ruled by quattros (Laine, Heinonen, Palmqvist) but bronze was finally taken by Harri Väänänen, Lada VFTS...

He did at least some rounds of the German Championship.

He finished 3rd in the Hunsrück Rallye (behind Marc Duez in another Metro and Stig Andervang in an RS200) and 2nd in the Deutschland Rallye (behind Michèle Mouton in a 205 T16).

He didn't get a top 10 result in any other round of the European Championship. In fact only other mention I can find in results other than WRC ones is a retirement in the Scottish.
