View Full Version : TRD3 Euro F3 series - Part deux! (round 2)

real_illusions
16th August 2007, 20:16
Round 2 takes us to Holland and the sea side resort of Zandvoort.

Racing amongst the sand dunes, along side the sea. Plus a few additional rules to help make things interesting.

Handicaps are based on championship positions thru out the series. I will try to make them varied but fair in the course of the season.

For this round, the handicaps are as follows:

Positions 1 and 2 - default settings and start in the middle of the pack. (Adama and Johnny).
Positions 3 and 4 - default settings, except the gears which are free, and start at the front
(Tannt and R_illusions).
Positions 5 and 6 - free settings and start at the front.
(CCFanatic and Penske_ALMS).

This should make the battles a little more interesting, and maybe Adam and Johnny wont be as far ahead this time. Maybe with a bit of luck, one of them might finish below 2nd.

Anyone else who wishes to participate, then let it be known and i shall issue you with appropiate handicaps!

Car Settings - See above.
AI - Hard
Free practise
Corner cutting - off (but at least 2 wheels on the black stuff at all times, unless you crash or decide to run some spectators over or want to go swimming...)
Careless driving - off
Flags - on
**Restarts - only upto the end of lap 1 of each race**

2 races in each round.

Race 1 - 3 laps. No pit stops. A sprint to the finish.

Race 2 - 7 laps with compulsory pitstop where you must stop and change tyres. Fuel - you must take on at least 5 laps worth of fuel. Any damage you want to repair is optional.

Times to be submitted to me no later than August 25th at midnight (ish) british time.

Have fun!

I will do my very best to keep Adam on his toes. at least he knows he has to make SOME effort!

and since he and I having the same settings, it will be obvious to all exactly how slow I am, compared to him. that's nice :D

I am most intrigued by the "no restarts after lap 1" rule. that could REALLY mix things up BIG TIME.

instead of just going for broke then restarting if something happens, we'll actually have to exercise caution - just like in a real car!

good job RI

I know this series doesn't have a lot of cars in it, but I really love it.

welcome to the field madcat the junior!

and really, this time of year V8 only gets 7-9 cars on average, and DTM is like 7-8... so if we can keep it at 6 or more we're fine

have you not unlocked the rest of the ch'ships on the game then? :/

I did mention in the previous thread on the results post due to a small field, its not much point in splitting the field up for 2 seperate series.

PiotrB - sure, welcome aboard. Since your pretty quick, i'll give you default settings and start at the front.

Also, another reminder - there is no british series anymore, just the euro one.

Any new entries - need a team name, car number and country to add you to the entry list.

started practicing last night. WHEW

I propose that we eliminate the no restarts rule. I mean it's cool because it makes you be REAL careful, and you know if you screw up you can't just hit restart. That should mix things up a bit.

BUT, I'm having to put in a LOT of practice laps so that I feel confident that I'll be able to run the races without crashing!

My favorit places to crash are gerlach bocht and renault bocht.

I spent a few laps practicing my pit out lap just to get an idea of what the car would feel like on cold tires and extra fuel (FOUR laps extra worth) you know, since if I wrecked I couldn't restart or anything.

so on one lap I wrecked, but I decided to make my way back to the pits to practice another out lap.

and I ended up recreating this very special moment almost to a tee:

Finally hit the track for 2 timed laps and 4 untimed (corner cutting or spins).
You'd think I was Loeb on the Monte with the number of times I used the handbrake (very, very deliicately). That goofy S bend in the middle of the lap won't help our lap times very much...

Perhaps a poor finish here will enable us to have free setups at the next venue where we can dial out this understeer of porcine levels...

did my races. no restarts after lap one adds one hell of a twist to the races. It was possible to turn laps in the 1:07's, but I couldn't guarantee myself I wouldn't wreck at that pace I so had to back off to the 1:09's & 1:10's at best.

and even then, I would often run wide exiting corners and get REAL sideways. and once in the long race I completely spun out coming to a complete stop. Luckily I didn't hit anything!

motorsport.com/forum in a deep investigation finds CCFanatic failed to take tires on his required pit stop in race number two. Team Racing's Team Engineer Ron Dennis was not avalible for comment but did corporate with the FIA investigators. Sad news for the young rookie.

I failed to take tires, which takes 10 seconds in the pits. I ask for a stiff penalty for it. Either a time penalty of 15-20 seconds or a points penalty to keep the podium trophy.

ok...i think i've worked out a way to punish CCFanatic.

A time penalty like 20 seconds will only drop him one place. A penalty of about 40 seconds (about 3 pitstops) is needed to drop him further down the field. So, I have reached the decision to effectively disqualify him, BUT he still has points for last place. This also means he drops in position in the ch'ship table. However the rules for Oulton in regards to handicaps will stay the same. As not to mess around with anyone who has already done their races or practising.

This may seem a little harsh, but its the only way of seeing a fair way to treat everyone else who had changed tyres. Plus it hopefully makes other people double check the rules before they race ;) :p

Breaking News
Team Racing's, Team Principal Ron Dennis has resigned over the pit debactle with CCFanatic. His replacement has not been named, but it looks as if you will see Team Racing's Crew Chief, Collin Kolles will take over after his firing from Spyker. Also, rumored is former F1 team owner, Eddie Jordan has come out. His presence would be huge for the 17 year old rookie.

The team has recieved a Disqualification over the debacle. Driver, CCFanatic has also been placed on probation from the team. He was quoted in an interview, "The team has fallen apart over this. First with Ron leaving, then the DQ, it has been a tough time for the team, which we might not make it through."

The team's sponsor, Indeck has also pulled their sponsorship on the team.

More news should be coming from a news confrence Tuesday.
