IIRC, Russia used different calendar system for a long long time, obviously "old" October moved to the November.

No, I don't either, but I do go swimming and play badminton every now and again and it is of no concern to me whether the other swimmers/badmintonites (?) are men or women. Sometimes men do splash more at the pool, but you don't really belong in the adult pool if you can't deal with a bit of splashing.
It just strikes me as a little odd how women+golf = so many men getting cross over not much.

I think it's some masculine thing, you know - "golf has always been a man's pasttime, women can't participate, it would take something special away..." or some such silliness...

Personally, I always preferred playing chess against women - it gave me a chance to compare and contrast the natural styles of men and women, and there were noticeable differences.

And, I maintain that cat gut is cattle. If it's wrong, blame Colin Quilter.
