Someone is selling a lot of NASCAR parts on ebay. In the item descriptions it says... "we are changing the manufacturer we run and liquidating our current inventory".
nothing to suggest Honda i know, but look at whats in the background of some of the photos....

Gee...that looks like the front end of an Edgeline truck. I think though if Honda was going NASCAR, one of the journalists who deals the dirt in that series would have caught wind of it. There are no secrets in Mooresville.

No, you are right, everything in those garages is open to view, plain as day. Even from a marketing standpoint, it would be a mistake to do this covertly

Still kinda wierd though. why would you bother sticking honda stuff on a truck. unless it some sort of joke.
But if honda was actually coming to NASCAR we would know way before a car/truck had one panel of sheetmetal fabricated.

Yes, Honda will be coming to NASCAR in the not so distant future.

If you look at the picture in the auction:

You will see a charger, #37, with last years charger nose. I looked at the #37 paint schemes for 2006 on jayski and found this paint scheme:
http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2006/cup/37upstate-dodge-nose.jpg
Which is definately the paint on the charger in the background. THe team is definately R&J Racing or Front Row Motorsports which bought out R&J.
The auction states that the item is located in Indiana, but both the front row and R&J shops are located in North Carolina.
I think that this is a joke or a scam? Photoshop?

In the item descriptions it says... "we are changing the manufacturer we run and liquidating our current inventory."Looks like they have been changing manufacturers a lot, since they have Evernham Dodge engines for sale along with Chevy bell housings and Ford bell housings and headers. Seems more like a liquidator to me.

Honda has no interest in NASCAR and quite frankly I have no interest in Honda. Besides, no team that would be running Honda in '08 would be stupid enough to show a pic on ebay, they'd get sued for all they're worth for violation of the NDA.

Honda is too busy wasting time in F1 and not winning anything :p : except for one lucky win by Button

Oh pulease.Honda needs to concentrate on F1 before venturing into other race venues, they have won a hand ful of races in F1 and just because Toyota is on board, dont expect Honda to jump into the fray..I dont see it happening.

At this point Honda won't consider entering Nascar until the specs for the Engine of Tomorrow are set.

Toyota's formula 1 program is shameful, and it certainly hasn't stopped them from entering NASCAR. Now that there is no USGP, the brand extension of Honda Racing in the US is limited. I think this would be the perfect time to enter NASCAR for Honda.

the brand extension of Honda Racing in the US is limited.I know that this isn’t saying much, but the IRL exclusively uses Honda engines after Toyota pulled out of the series. Not sure how much that limits their US brand extension?

Toyota's poor NASCAR program was built on the remains of their poor IRL program, which was built on the remains of a poor CART program, and so on in that order.
If Honda comes to NASCAR, it'll mean the end of their IRL program.
I think NASCAR should open the rules up so any vehicle SOLD in North America can compete. Thanks to the COT, it's not like they contribute anything to the actual cars anymore.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or (cruelly) sarcastic. :D

the main reason why this can be seen as a fake is this...
During the whole of their production for US consumption since the 60's, was there a V-8 engine offered in any of their vehicles?
and a V-8 has to be part of their production in order to qualify. Toyota has, Nissan has, but Honda either doesn't or won't, which makes this conversation moot.

I am aware, but the value of that sponsorship is not nearly the same as having the Honda brand in competition. The fans do not see, nor can identify with an engine. This sponsorship is little more than a decal on the air intake scoop.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or (cruelly) sarcastic. :D Serious...but most people don't take the IRL serious. There is a lot of close side by side racing on the ovals, so I enjoy watching it.

Yeah. I try to be as objective in my contributions in this forum as possible, but I have to admit that my comments on the engine sponsorship deal are driven by the fact that I refer to the IRL as the Irrelevant Racing League.
I would love to see Wheldon in NASCAR though, I think he has exactly the right personality

Veeten my man, since when did Toyota make a v-8? They didn't until about 3 years ago (ok Lexus goes back further than that), and it didn't have pushrods in it. All any car maker has to do to get into NASCAR now is build the model in North America that you race and put up LOTS of dough. Honda has the dough, and with the COT, the Accord would be the model I am sure. With the COT, NASCAR is pretty much hanging out a sign saying "c'mon in! Bring your check book!!"

I know that a car BUILT in the USA is eligible to compete in NASCAR. Does Honda build any cars (or trucks) in the USA that COULD be used in the unlikely event that Honda decides to join NASCAR?

I don't think there's a Honda sold in the North American market that isn't built here. In fact, Honda now builds the majority of its vehicles in its U.S. plants.

Just because Toyota is in it does that mean that Honda well jump on board in Nascar?I think not,but until it happens.
