What a rip-off!

Just seen on e-bay. Some 'buy it now' sellers have the RAC BMW's listed for £60... I hope they are no one on here!

It pays to buy direct.. £15.99

Yeah i saw that, they were doing it the day after they were put up on the RAC site. People will take any chance they can to make money and rip people off

Been informed that HPI are planning to model the Alfa 155's and Volvo estates from the BTCC in 1/43 which might bring the prices of the Minichamps versions down..

PDS
15th May 2009, 17:26
Yes they were announced a while ago..

Not sure they will keep the minichamp price too low though, as the HPI models are £50 each! http://www.trax-models.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=82

Does anyone know if Oxford are going to be making the 2009 Vectra's?

PDS - would that be RAC (Spark) releasing some newer BMW's?

Or the Motorbase BMW you have a picture of???

I see Peter is doing his usual small snippet to get us excited but still actually revealing nothing!!!

Is it the Spark BMW's (as per VX1054)? Is that worth waiting for as there isn't that much of a difference with the ones released.

Is it an Oxford Vectra? There models aren't the best to be really excited for.

I'm hoping we will finally have a BTCC Seat Leon.

Come on Peter either tell us or don't say anything at all, I can't handle the smoke and mirrors anymore from you!!!! :arrows:

The reason I have not given the full details on the model is because I don't know the full details!

The problem was your post " If you can't be bothered to find it yourself, I'm not going to tell you." when I still haven't seen the information anywhere else apart from in this thread and that one ebay auction! It's not exactly wide-spread info.

If it's a standard 1:43 IXO SEAT like the WTCC ones that been officially announced then I'd expect them to be £39.99 each.

The Plato model I posted the link to is one of those pre-production models that comes "out of the back door" and the Chinese pass off as the full monty. If you look at my post earlier in this thread you will see I mentioned the Altaya Seat Collection part work in Spain. This model is the next scheduled release in that series and will be available for about £19.99 (certainly from me anyway!).

I have just received the above model and have a question on it.

Have Trofeu got it wrong or am I going mad!

The registration plate says "XOO 341F", now I thought that plate was normally raced by Chris Craft (in 1968 and 1969) and John Fitzpatrick drove on the plate "XOO 342F". The books I have seem to agree with this thought, did they swap cars at anytime or have I just completely got it wrong?

Also the only reference I can find to the 112 car was at Mallory Park and he didn't finish in this race, isn't this a strange car to pick for making?

Bought the 1997 Warwick (2nd livery) and Reid, the Spice Capri, Fitzpatrick Escort. I also managed to pick up a Vectra Test car is a batch of Vectra's not long ago.

Finished a 1994 Needell Primera and 1994 Neal Mazda and converted a Minichamps BMW to the Brabham Goldeneye car.

Hoping to pick up the 2008 Plato car but I need to sell a BBR kit first to afford it!!

I have got a few project on the go but need decals producing or reproducing (I hate Formule kit decals they are so thin and break even with solution on them).

Looks like some manufacturers (Kyosho and HPI) are slowly producing more of the JTCC ST cars. Though it's a no brainer considering they're just really producing new decals as they can reuse the old car moulds. But still, it's cool to see you can buy a '94 Alfa Romeo that raced in Japan.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1-43-HPI-Alfa-Romeo-155-TS-1994-JTCC-55-8130_W0QQitemZ400068946604QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDieca st_Vehicles?hash=item5d25f7aaac&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

The HPI Afla's are so much better than the minichamp version. The body shape is more accurate.

Do you think there it's worth putting a couple of BBR models that I made in my early making days on ebay?

The models aren't brilliant as they were done before I bought a spraygun and I always struggled to attach the windows so they are lifting off the model. There are 2 Audi's (a 1996 and 1997) and a 94 Nissan.

With the fees as they are so you think it would be worth it?

It depends on the condition of the models you have for sale. If you have bits not sticking to the car, I assume that you have tried to re-fix the bits? Not many people would be interested and may only buy them for spares, assuming there is anything salvagable on it.

Been quietly adding a few new models to my collection -

2008 Vectra, Onslow-Cole
2008 Leon, Plato
Corgi's toy version of Rouse's 86 Sierra xr4i

I also have a Ford Sierra collection going on, rally/road cars, got a couple of those too.

I bought a 94 Cecotto ADAC Cup BMW 320i last weekend from a market stall in town, trouble is i now realise i already have one of those, i think my collection is getting a little large and i cant remember what i have got, made a couple of these mistakes now lol, or i suppose my memory might be going.

The chap also had the 94 Winklehock BTCC car for sale at a very reasonable £15, i did remember i do own that one already.

The HPI Volvo 850 estate's are now on eBay.

Bit pricey though. £42.99 seems to be the cheapest option at the moment. Indeed eBay for BTCC models is going down hill these days, everyone is either a dealer, or they have gone down the buy it now route, hardly any bargains to be had anymore.

I have now finished by 1995 Cavalier's of Thompson & Cleland (not quite the full set as I would like to do an Allam as well but can't get hold of a model). They came out well but not as good as I liked and I had a couple of problems with the wheels and windows. :(

I have also updated my list with a few other models that I hadn't added before, (1984 Rouse Rover, 1985 Hodgetts Escort and a couple of ONYX models) and taken out others to make it just 1/43 scale BTCC cars. Now only need 2 ONYX models (1998 Rydell & 1997 Harvey) and 1 Minichamps (1995 Rydell), does anyone know where I might be able to get one from (apart from ebay) or is willing to sell?

You paid a very good price for it and Chris paid over £100 for it originally.

As far as I'm aware Racing Replicas never made this model and the guy Chris bought this model off did many conversions, as at the time he was also selling a couple of World Touring models (a Spanish entrant and a Cleland one for 1994) and Racing Replicas certainly didn't make any of those. They are really easy models to convert as I have done a couple of them.

I was going to go for it but decided not to as I have a model kit of this model that it currently under construction.

Some exciting news. The AutoArt Rydell Volvo BTCC models will finally be released in September/October. They have also added two additional versions to those already announced.

89494 #15 RICKARD RYDELL VOLVO 850 ESTATE BTCC 1994 DUE SEPT/OCT '10
89594 #15 RICKARD RYDELL VOLVO 850 BTCC 1995 DUE SEPT/OCT '10
89595 #9 TIM HARVEY VOLVO 850 BTCC 1995 DUE SEPT/OCT '10
89596 PRESENTATION VERSION VOLVO 850 BTCC 1995 DUE SEPT/OCT '10

I'm covered on the two Rydell versions (got them on pre-order at 69.99 each) but worried about how much the Harvey one will set me back (as current Autoart RRP for them is £109.99 and I have heard rumours it will be £149.99 when they are actually released.)

109.99 for a model thats ridiculous

Thanks, my collection has now turned into a bit of an obsession! But I can't take the credit for the information on the link, the more modern cars comes from the year books or internet while the older cars in the collection gets cross referenced with Frank De Jong's excellent touring car site.

Got my Jones Seat Leon today so another one for the collection, I've also started another Cavalier conversion (sorry PDS it's a Racing Replicas base - I know you hate them!)

OK I will then. It's actually not great. Some of the details are very blurred and other bits don't look right. It's a nice model so long as you don't look too closely! Still I wouldn't get rid of mine. It's just a plain white Autoart BMW that someone's stickered up. I would like to redo mine at somepoint, possibly paint it and it could be much nicer!

They were made for all the BMW dealers who were part of the "accident exchange" program. Each dealer had their name on the bonnet (the one on ebay is from Cooper Maidstone) They are indeed a stickered up Plain white Autoart model. Shame they used ordinary stickers and not decent waterslides though.

Rydell Estate supposed to be released this year too. The models are really really good, had some problems with the Rydell one that had to go back but replacement arrived this morning and is perfect. The prices of models these days are crazy. There's 3 Racing Replicas Cavaliers on eBay with about 20 mins to go, all at £50+! I got my 2 for £35-£40 each a few years back. I was watching the Ecurie Ecosse car, but I can't justify £60 or more on an old model of poor quality like the RR ones are. That's about 90% of a tank of fuel for me!

daz90
3rd April 2011, 20:22
Racing Replicas are not the best, but apart from those there is not alot of choice if you want a BTCC Cavalier, ok there are the odd resin kit knocking about, but unless you are a pro builder or you know one then Racing Replica models is as good as it gets, and they are very rare. I am not at all surprised they went for 60 quid or so, indeed i have seen them fetch more.

However, you do have a valid point Iain, prices of models do seem to be higher now, which is good if you are selling. But too many of them on eBay are offered at a buy it now price, too many dealers perhaps? anyway there are not the bargains that there once was on eBay, not any more.

JasonPotato
4th April 2011, 19:51
daz90 has hit the nail on the head, if you want a bargain Ebay is not your place anymore. There are just too many people that use it and your chances of getting a bargain are very slim. I got my 1993 cleland cavalier last year for £25 if i remember correctly but that was because i contacted the seller as soon as it came on so really its about luck.

What i do find wierd is that the RR models go for £50+ when they are limited to 7500 pieces but yet the Onyx models are limited to 2000 pieces but go for between £10-30? But as Iain says models are going for crazy prices at the moment maybe because BTCC is more popular than what it was a few years ago when you could get the models very cheap.

I did a deal with someone last week for an RR 1995 Valvoline Mondeo for £30, sorry if anyone was watching it ;)

I'm looking to convert a 1:18 Chevrolet Cruze model I acquired last year into a full race model. Currently it has two seat in it (both race seats) like a rally car, and is liveried in base WTCC 2009 colours (no numbers, driver names, colours etc). I'm undecided as to whether to just do a simple conversion into a WTCC 2009 car, probably Menu's, or something a bit harder, like turning it into Plato's championship winning Cruze of '10, which would require custom decals of which I have no experience. Either way I'm going to have to get some 1:18 door plate number and window names. Anyone know of somewhere that does them?

1995 Derek Warwick Alfa Romeo (not quite right when I got it as it is on a 1994 Minichamps base so the splitter isn't right, I also had to add a proper rear wing as well -still looks OK though)

Currently 183 'finished' models!

I still have around 10 kits to make and a few conversions to do before I have causght up with everything.

There is still the Vanguard 85 Rouse Sierra to come out and Spark have announced a 1960s Steve Neal Britax Mini Cooper as some point in the future.

That 200 mark is getting ever closer.

Impressive! as for myself, i will consider my collection to be complete once i have the last of the Onyx cars added, i think i just need 2 now, a 98 Leslie and the 99 Radermaker Volvo, then i will have every Onyx BTCC car. Ofcourse the 85 Rouse Sierra is a must also, and if i get a chance and some spare cash i really want the 1995 Volvo 850 in 1/18 scale too.

Cant buy anything at the minute though, my eBay account is broken due to me logging in here in Romania, they seem to think i am hacking my own account! and my collection is not with me and i cant remember exactly what i do and dont have. Cant wait for next summer though to be reunited with them, of all the things i miss from England, i miss my collection of BTCC cars, Nottingham Forest, (City ground, former season ticket holder) oh and my family too.
