Yes, its finally arrived. Sorry for it being a bit later than anticipated. You have until Sunday 0600 GMT to complete the races. I will try and get the results posted that same afternoon ahead of Round 2 being set.

First round is at Brands Hatch, on the short Indy circuit. Here are the race details

Race 1 5 laps
Race 2 8 laps
Race 3 5 laps

PM me your times before the deadline above, including those for qualifying.

Practice is 15 minutes and you have 5 minutes of qualifying per race.

Everyone must drive the UK Clio cars, completely unmodified. Setup is free.

What about other settings, like AI, rules, and flags? :D

Alfa Fan
19th December 2006, 14:14
You must race with AI on. Difficulty upto you. 2 wheels on track at all times. No flags.

I'll do this as soon as I finish my V8 Supercars free race championship. Hope people don't forget about this series!

well, I think I must've cheated in the warm-up race. I was turning laps in the low 38s and now I'm a second slower. I must've accidently let my engineer select some upgrades for me at the warm-up race.

I had no idea my engineer was doing that, and I appologize for his actions.

times will be submitted later today!

Brown, Jon Brow
21st December 2006, 15:16
When you click 'start race' the tuning automatically comes on 'yes' for standard upgrades. It's easy to click that by accident. I think that standard upgrade should be allowed.

Alfa Fan
21st December 2006, 16:17
No upgrades! Just click on "No" when the option comes up :) They're already unrealistically fast, especially around Brands Hatch.

Brown, Jon Brow
21st December 2006, 16:27
BTCC car 00:49 seconds around Brands
DTM car 00:43 seconds
TRD3 Clio Cup 00:37 seconds. That's not unrealistic.

With Pro-sim handling on I lap around 00:50seconds which is more realistic but still a few seconds faster than reality.

I believe I'd like to join this party, Alfa Fan.
What do you require from me in terms of an entry?

yes I'd like to run as well, although a possible limited schedule though?

lugnut_usa

Yeah, these cars are pretty darn fast. That last corner always throws me though, I just can't nail it right.

Hopefully I can improve on my performance in the warm-up round we had here a few months ago where I had 2poles 3wins and 3 fastest laps. ;)

lugnut_usa
22nd December 2006, 17:05
I'll be the first to admit that I'm missing something on these cars.

I played online the other night, and I was fairly competitive, but there were two other players who were definitely a half to full second a lap faster at some tracks. Default setups, too!

Neil Adams
22nd December 2006, 18:09
this no upgrades thing could be issue, im not saying i want to use them but just starting my second race and it didnt even give me the option, but i knew the upgrades where on cos i was suddenly more than a second faster per lap, had to access another part of the game (career or whatever) then when i went back to the free race part, it then gave me the option

Brown, Jon Brow
22nd December 2006, 20:24
Races have been done and I'm quite happy :D

Managed to squeeze just over a seconds out of the clio from the warm-up aces here in September which was good.
I reckon that I could get another 3-4tenths out of the car if I tweaked the set-up a little more and an extra 1.5 seconds would be possible if we could tune the cars.

I'm looking for a top 3 finnish in this round, hopefully the likes of Peter Vuko, Muz, Mixa and Homer will turn up but i'm not sure that 190bhp front wheel drive cars are there cup of tea.

Peter Vuko
22nd December 2006, 20:51
Just doing my 3rd race now. These cars are fun but a little harder to set up than the big V8's!! The UPGRADES could become a major problem - they are so easy to mistakenly put on - then they stay on! You must physically go to "upgrades" to take each individual upgrade off or turn off the game completely. Basically, if you don'y get asked the question "Do you want upgrades...." then they are on!!! They take up to a second off your time.

ah I feel right at home with the short tracks in this series :D

thanks for running this Alfa

my set-up was grood but the tyres just didn't come in until two laps from the end of the 5 lap races, the cars are extremely quick and I was only about a tenth off of JB's practice times.

J.B sure seems like the one to beat in these cars - well done J.B. Boy that 2nd race was close between 2nd-5th!! I could not get into the 37's - so J.B really has got the car well set up. We will all have to work a little harder for the next race to catch J.B.

Not much to driving this circuit-flat out everywhere exceptbraking for Druids. There was that annoying bump at Clark that I would hit from time to time (a better setup would have made the suspension a bit more compliant at that point).

Brown, Jon Brow
28th December 2006, 23:24
I had front suspension and front dampers at 50,

and rear suspension, dampers both at 100

Seemed to work nice ;)

Having stiffer settings at the rear works well on these cars I find :)

that stupid bump is not there in real life either! would make that corner much easier if it wasnt there, found i could avoid it if you head for an immediate apex from the previous corner

7th, 8th, 8th not bad!
very close races!

cant help thing jon brown may have accidently had the upgrades on pv is pretty much the benchmark fastest in most championships so there to be a 5 sec gap to jon brown highlights an anolomlie to me

I didn't use upgrades. i have just raced around brands indy in the clio a thousand times (more than any other track)

I can set low 36 seconds laps with upgrades, which is over a second faster than I set in the race.
look at my hall of fame lap (even if it isn't in the the top 50)

Seeing FPA times that muz did in the hall of fame was demoralising!

BTW. Vuko has been well beaten before. I won by 20seconds in the Norisring DTM round. I am evil Homer beat him by over 1/2 a minute in the DTM at Spa. And MUZ and Mixa have both beaten him plenty of times. But if you can bet on one guy getting the most podium finnishes in a season it will be P.V
