View Full Version : Anyone still Lost?

Simmi

Anyone still bothering with Lost as it hurtles into its third series? Have all three been in the space of one year or did it start last year? It's been like a constant thing for so long I've Lost track.

Third series doesn't seem as brilliant, and I bet a few people are crying at it having moved over to Sky. Is it huge in other parts of Europe too?

I love it. I think the thing that keeps you watching is that you want to know what the hell is going on. So many questions need answering.

Ya but think its about time they started answering some questions anyway, I think the third season is slipping a bit, still watch it but not with the same level of interest as before!

Hi. :D

I'm sure that it will take some time for the others to find it, but they will.

... and we'll be one big, happy family again. :)

I like the fact there is so much to it on different levels. A lot of the episodes reference each other and things like that. And very true about the amount of questions. They cant answer them all i bet!

There's ones that they've brought up but then burried like Hurley's bird Libby. What was she doing in that mental institute with Hurley? Will they even bother answering now she's died?

Isn't there supposed to be a film or two on the horizon? I think it will go down in history in years to come whatever happens.

I don't know, I think it has lost a little something. Perhaps it's just dragging things on a bit too long?

Still loving it here :D

Season 3 is on it's mid season break in the US and will not be back until Feb!

True. I don't have Sky but the wonders of dailymotion.com helped me be able to see the first 6 episodes of series 3.

One thing I wonder is that as the writers create ever more twisting and extravagant storylines it must surely become harder to pull it all together when they need to end it?

It's still highly entertaining but its "believe-ability" is going down

Dragged this old thread back - from the very first page of the new version of this forum.

Is anyone still watching Lost?
Not even seen any adverts for it in ages and don't know anyone who still bothers, but I am curious about what season they're on now and how many of the cast members have returned from the dead/been caught drink driving/annoyed the locals while filming recently?

I think series 5 starts next February, that's why you won't have heard much recently.

I've never watched an episode of Lost. Am I missing much?

It is very convoluted! And Fred is not lost he's just abroad :p

No, Julia Fox is a broad. I'm a broad (some say). Fred's all man :p :

Thanks Jamie. So that means there are three full series to go, yes? They said seven would be made after the first year, if I remember right.

I never bothered with Lost in the first place. Seem to remember seeing half the first episode and another early one with some kind of door which wouldn't open. I knew then that the series was just going to get on my tits and the thing wouldn't be opened until the end of the series so just asked my housemate to let me know what was down there when they opened it. Sure enough they blew it up (with some dynamite they found, I'm told) and there was some kind of room apparently.

I have no desire to watch a series which seems to be have written by seperate writers who never met. Introduction of 'wild cards' have to have some sort of grounding and TBH I found the show to be tedious and unispiring :p :

The Wire is far better, just coming to the end of Season 1 and it has gripped me like virtually nothing else. Properly deep show and, most importantly, the story flows and makes sense :D

Lost rules dude. I think we're following season 4 here in Finland.

Simmi

I forgot I had started this thread.

Season 4 was a return to form for Lost. Season 3 got a bit of criticism because it didnt seem to be going anywhere. Without actually spoiling the story they have now moved from flashbacks to flashforwards. This actually means that the story appears to be going somewhere and it is altogether more cohesive. Before this it really did seem like it was being made up as it went along.

It is definately great telly and well worth watching. I completely agree about The Wire being on another level however.

So, as far as I am informed the finale of Lost comes this weekend (in the US, not sure about anywhere else). Is anyone else still watching it? :p : Anyone know what is going to happen? :D

No spoiling anything in here please ;)

Yes definitely keep going, my family only started watching it after about the 3rd episode of this series, and they caught up last week (that is something ike 115 episodes in less than 4 months :s )

Don't expect to find out what is happening anytime soon though.... I still don't know!! :s

Absolutely! It's the penultimate episode this Friday in the UK, with the finale the Friday after. Only know, right at the end, are we beginning to actually find things out, rather than have yet more questions!

Anyone know what is going to happen? :D

Nope!

Any spoilers will be followed by a 2 week ban, you have been warned ;)

Shot in the dark that they still leave you with loads of questions and it largely won't make sense.

There are much, much better programmes than Lost IMO. Breaking Bad is my current favourite, gripping story and some very good performances by the cast. Always keeps you guessing but you get given answers (which I've always felt Lost failed at). Another short series was Generation Kill, different thing altogether but I found it to be very watchable. Watched an episode back last night and it's superbly shot and written

Lost is the kind of programme where a lot of the stuff is better unexplained. As any explanation will seem rubbish in comparison :p

Generation kill was the best show I saw last year, HBO really do make great miniseries. Casting of it was fun, imagine that, the best soldier in the US military is a bleeding Swede. ;)
Was a bit of a odd moment to see him in True Blood though. :)

Anyways, Lost lost me when they heard some kind of a monster in the jungle, episode two I think.

And I'll repeat it again, Watch the Wire, especially seasons one and three, good stuff.

It was deep into season 3 (or 4?) when I started watching it on SciFi and G4TV channels. I watched it 4 days a week until I got caught up. And I'm really happy that I did. I'm not claiming that it's the best TV show ever, or even the best TV show on now (a nod I'd have to give to Breaking Bad). But IMO, Lost does a fantastic job of mixing scifi, with drama, comedy (when Hurley is on), mythology and religion.

I agree with Mark, that much of the time the questions are better left unanswered. But Lost is a show where some portion of the fanbase actually analyzes every second of the show looking for clues and Easter eggs... and then they come up with some of the most bizarre and crazy theories you can imagine. The writers apparently read the popular Lost forums. So I guess they feel the need to address certain questions, just because some people are SO far off track.

We get Fast Forward followed by Lost on wednesday nights and I have no idea what's going on much of the time but that's ok, my brain gets a workout trying to keep up. I've watched the movie 12 Monkeys 3 times and still get confused. I got BSG though, my favorite TV series of all time.

I watch very little TV actually but when Lost is over I will have to find something else to fill the gap in my life :)

Is Prison Break back on yet? :p :

If you like BSG, then you might like the new series "Caprica". It's sort of a prequel. Also, "Stargate Universe" is similar to BSG... but not as well written.

Sunday evening is going to be the final night of Lost here. From 7PM to 11:30PM will be the recap and the 2.5 hour finale. And then at 12 Midnight Jimmy Kimmel is going to have the producers and the cast on.

It's such a complicated show to follow and understand. But the global impact of the show has been nothing short of incredible. Some people get it and some don't. But as it states in my sig, we all have the choice of watching or not watching. You always have a choice...

I've grown used to watching it. I'm really going to miss it after next week. I'm down to Mad Men, Breaking Bad and F1 now. Except for those shows, other than the financial news, I can do without most everything else on TV these days.

It will be shown at 5am in the UK (and other places in Europe) so that it is on at the same time as the US. I'm not sure I will have time to catch the end before leaving for work, but if I don't then there will be no escaping it being spoilt and that will just be a huge shame after watching it for so long!! :bigcry:

^^^My friend, his wife, and his sister-in-law have all taken Monday off from work so that they can have a final Lost party on Sunday evening. I may drive down and hang out with them for a few hours - but I'm not taking Monday off (I just won't drink much). I usually Tivo Lost, but like you, I can't take a chance on the ending being spoilt.

^^^2.5 hour finale. By hour 2, all four people in the room were either blubbering or fighting back tears. I always thought I was pretty hard-hearted, but when you watch the finale, expect to have your heartstrings plucked. The writers really played the emotion card in this one. But I'm even more "lost" now than I was before. That's all I'll say...

Enjoy!

They certainly left a lot open to your own interpretation. Which is good, although I like an ending where things aren't just left hanging, it's nice to be able to put your own interpretation on things rather than have it forced upon you.

I was certainly 'Lost' right up until the end, as I didn't expect it to finish where it did, but once I'd thought about it for a couple of minutes, it all made sense! :D

Farewell Lost! It started just after I met Karen and ended just after I married her :)
