Welcome to round 6 of the championship. Racer69 has set the dates & race distances for the rest of the season & recruited me to handle the virtual paperwork. We still expect to see him on the track in limited rounds, putting around near the back as his practice budget has been slashed.

For this round we stay in Germany, heading 569 km southwest from the Eurospeeday to the Hockenheim circuit.

The young sensation Jon Brown has had his car modified to allow entry of his head, and we will see if he can make it three touring car wins in a row following his stunning victories in the Aussie V8 cars at Surfer's Paradise and in DTM cars at Eurospeedway.

Yes guys i've got a bit on my plate at the moment so Johnny has kindly said he will take over the running, so don't forget to send you race times to him, and not to me :) (though if you do i'll forward them on)

As JS says i'll try and race when i can :)

Put in one installation lap and got a 1:11.9 first time out. I'm hoping that in race conditions I can lap in the low 1:12's to mid 1:11's.

South Georgia is my home, JS  never been to the islands but I understand they are beautiful. Take some photos of the few lighthouses about and share them with us when you return..

A keg of mosquito repellant is called for I believe...

johnny shell
17th July 2007, 20:25
yeah I heard they're bad. when I made the reservations at the camp (Cumberland Island National Seashore) the park ranger even warned me on the phone to bring repellant

It's pretty rainey this time of year - I just hope we get in some sunshine too. But times running out before the son is back in school again, so it's now or never!

17.5 miles of white sandy undeveloped beach can't too bad under any conditions though...... sprinkle in some wild horses, pigs, bobcats, alligators, armadillos, turtles, rattle snakes....... and no telephones, electricity, or cars.....

we're not New Zeland or Europe, but we've got some nice offerings if you poke around......

I'm happy with my race. Everything went well and I was really consistent all race. I looking for at least podium finish.

hey all! sorry I took a bit longer than expected getting back. I ended up tacking a day onto my vacation then I spent the rest of the weekend getting my little brother married.

qualifying looked to be a VERY tight battle between a Brit and an Aussie - until a Pole came along and pipped them both.

details to follow later today!

No surprises at the top of the order, but a great showing by newcomer Penske_ALMS in leading the second pack of cars, which consisted of some extremely experienced veterans.

johnny shell
30th July 2007, 15:56
wow!

what an exciting race - there was some shuffling of the order in both the lead pack of cars and in the second pack of cars!

Brown, Jon Brow
30th July 2007, 16:03
So where are the results?

johnny shell
30th July 2007, 16:17
I'll be back at the next round, just couldn't make this round without giving myself quite an extension.

I think as the season goes on, it tends to be the less competitive people who tend to fade away... so that shouldn't discount the accomplishments of those of you who are scoring points now :)

johnny shell
30th July 2007, 16:40
actually, I take that back - there's some real good people who aren't racing anymore! I was just looking over the entry list..... there from all parts of the grid.

Very pleased with 5th

If the entry remains for the rest as the season as it did for this race, I think Opel may surpass Audi for 2nd in manufacturers :D

Hopefully more entries for Spa....

Cheers, JS  Hope you enjoyed the Georgia coast.

With some luck, I'll be able to give you a run for best placed American in the DTM :p

Very happy with 2nd spot!! Well Piotr! You are certainly the fastest driver in the DTM & deserve your win & lead in the series. I don't think I will be able to make up the margin!! At least I got hte the fastest lap!!

Brown, Jon Brow

I've not given up catching him yet but Hockenhiem is one of my better circuits. I have a decent one lap pace, but my driving style was too much for the tyres. I used 80% hardness and they were buggered by the end :\

the Georgia coast is incredible. it was as close to living on Gilligan's Island as I'll ever get. that whole part of the state is beautiful. you're lucky tannat!

I was going to take the son to Universal Studios or something like that, but I thought "hey, why not go on a REAL adventure instead?".

if anyone goes though - take bug spray with DEET. DEET is a pretty serious chemical, but I rarely rarely use bug spray so it's ok. that, and be prepared for rain. there wasn't much rain, but you'll not want it to ruin your trip if it comes.

Thank you Peter Vuko ! I'm really happy with my driving especially qualifying runs were awesome. I won all of this season qualifying sessions so far. In races I have a good battle with you and Jon Brown.

Now I can't wait for Spa. This is my favourite circuit in ToCA RD3.

.

Apart from the practice session in the first round. You got a faster time but didn't post it to racer 69 so I got the points ;)

I'm happy to be beating the reigning champ. It seems like Vuko doesn't have the same edge over me in these as he does in the Clio's and V8's.

Yes, I completely forgot about that :) . Last time I found even better setups for AMG- Mercedes C-Klasse. Thanks to this I did: 1:10.60 on Hockenheim and 0:59.02 on Eurospeedway Lausitz.

Tires really droped off the last half of the race. (I guess crashing at turn 6 didn't help much either. :p ) Was certainly fun though.
