If i remember a while back i remember reading an article saying that Lada might enter the WTCC. Seeing as the story has died down now i was wondering if anyone has heard if Lada will actually be in the WTCC or was the rumour mill at work again

I remember there being a hoo-ha about exporting the cars from Russia to the team in Germany or something

That's the one right there. Ugh, looks like something out of the Group A era crossed with a TC2000 lower half.
Same story with Brilliance really - it'll never happen...even if they did enter, they could never seriously hope to compete with the likes of BMW or SEAT!

From memory wasn't that the Lada that they were racining Russia at the time of the announcement, i though the S2000 car was going to be different?
ATF - provided they got their stuff in order, why couldn't they hope to run with BMW or Seat. Lada do have a history of motorsport remember, one of their Niva's for instance stood on the podium of the Paris Dakar, and in Australia the marque has won the local Off-Road Championship before.

What, like Daewoo, sorry, Chevrolet? they seem to have done ok, although i wonder how they would do if the WTCC didn't offer the dispensations on rules and mucking around with weight breaks.

I wonder, is there a sub-woofer in the boot?
And whats all that stuff trickling down the tarmac?
I jest of course but it looks a bit insane. You can imagine the marketing board saying
"right guys we need to make a big comeback and improve Lada's image, maybe we should draft in some young blood for inspiration?
Great Idea! Lets make the car appeal to them! We should ask them, what makes a cool car and hey-ho, we have a winner! YES! (*punches the air)"

I doubt many would actually want to race that thing. Except maybe Devvo

Looks like it's stuck together with Prit Stick. Would keep the Marshalls busy picking up the Pieces after the Race.

Seeing as we are still talking about it, I think their marketing strategy worked then

But has anyone bought one because of it?

And in Germany. Cheap, very uncomplicated. No AC, that sort of things :)

Did Lada get farther than Brilliance? From what I heard, with Brilliance, the cars were partially built/under construction, but parts were taking an extraordinary long time to arrive.

Whilst the S2000 Lada's never ran in the WTCC, haven't works Lada's been present in the Russian Touring Car Championship in recent years?
But has anyone bought one because of it?
I've got one
Not one of those though, i've got a Niva :)
Some won't believe, but seriously a very nice car........ even Peter Brock put his name to Lada Samara's in Australia, releasing 'hot versions' of them.

This is one of the Lada Sport cars from the RTCC. Not really a S2000 car... Up until last year S2000-cars ran with heavy penalties to make them equal to Super Production cars. I don't they've raced anything more than old Kalinas in the Touring Light category.

I sure I remember reading in Autosport that the Brilliances had entered the Chinese Touring Car Championship.....
