Maybe this already is a thread or have been. Then just remove it.

I do not know very much about WRC, but try to keep up. I would like to know which livery you like the best, and which is the worst.

Ofcourse I have my opinion. And you all think : "He is one of those strange norwegian, so I guess he will say that the Expert Focus is the best looking car". Well, maybe.

We usualy gets excited by new liverys, but I have to say that some of my favourites is some of the most seen /used / or whatever.

On my best list I would choose:
- 2002 Telefonica Moviestar Focus
- Mäkinens "Tomi" Lancer
- 555 Subaru
- Total 307 Pug (The red one from the Peugoet-team)
- Stobart VK Focus 06

On my worst list I have one I really hate. I don`t know which team, but it is British and the main sponsor is Vodka Kick. Its very colorful, and indeed the worst looking livery I`ve ever seen.
Other on my worst list
- Kronos Xsara (the blue one)
- Gardemeisters "Koti Idea " Xsara
- Duvals First Skoda

My favorite car has always been the blue Subaru with the bright yellow livery. In particular the 2002 version with the bugeyes that Tommi and Petter drove. Something about those colors together really caught my attention.

The Marlboro 206 also was a gorgeous car, as well as Dani Sordo's white Xsara.

I agree with Gardemeisters Xsara. Also didn't like Galli's yellow Pirelli 307...too plain.

Galli's Pirelli Peugeot looks good, too bad didn't get to see it in person. RedBull Skoda's looked the best. Kronos was good but I didn't like the fact the they brought back the original Red in the Australian round of the WRC to GB. Shame, wanted to see it red and blue. But anyways..

5. Tommi Makinen Evo VII WRC (when the new evolution of Mitsu came out) The shape of the car was just beautiful
6. Francious Delecour's Ford Focus back in the day (White with blue RS)
7. Suzuki's new livery (Blue on white)
8. Subaru's have been the same since the 90's so agree with LP, but don't remember much of the Liberty's colors.

the best 307 livery was Bruno Thiry's white on Rally Condroz. Concerning Subaru, I like those classical Legacy and early Impreza ones.

I liked the yellow whale of Gigi and the OMV blue/white whale of Manfred :bounce:

I didn't like the Marlboro red/white livery at all :mark:

1.) I have to join those who say the yellow/red Pirelli livery of Galli's whale. That was really awesome.

2.) I also like the OMV colours of both the whale and the Xsara.

3.) The orange livery of Expect looks great as well. Both on the ehale and on the new Focus.

4.) I dislike the blue/yellow Subaru colours. I think I am getting tired of it.

5.) Also the red/metallic grey/black livery of Mitsu is strange (in an ugly kind of way)

PS: I recall a beautifull black Peugeot 206 back in 2000 or 2001 with Papaditrio (or however his name is spelled).

There are such a good color in Red Bull that it fits every car. Red Bull Skoda was the best looking livery. Too bad that was about it with Red Bull Skoda :mark:

Martini on Lancia and Ford was very cool too.

And I liked Manfred's OMV 307.

- 555 livery sin Subarus and sometimes without the 555 logo. Suitable to the 90's Impreza and first Impreza WRC (2 doors version). After 2001 the Impreza is the ugliest car in WRC and not even the colours save it (in 2006 made some progress but still far from what we saw for years in GT4WD and firstb 2 door WRC version).

- Thiry's 307 livery in Condroz was the best I haver seen in a whale.

- 307 OMV is also very interesting.

This year I liked the OMV 307 from Manfred Stohl and the Fabia WRC from Jan Kopecký.

Other cars that I liked:
The Focus WRC with T-Mobile in the Waldviertel Rallye 2001 droven by Manfred Stohl.
The Lesnikov (R.I.P.) Impreza WRC with Itera.
Factory Toyota Corolla WRC in 1999 with Castrol
François Delecour (Focus WRC) in 2001 with RS livery
Harri Rovanperä (Toyota Corolla WRC) Finland 2001 with that strange Finnish sponsor.

Worst:
Citroën Xsara WRC in 2005 with Total.
Peugeot 307 WRC in 2004.
Toni Gardemeister's Xsara this year.

Years back Rothmans cars, be they Escorts, Asconas, Mantas, Metros, M3s or my favorite 911's all looked great

Also the 1st works Escort Cossies, the Michelin Escorts, the 555 Subs and the 98 Escort WRC

Recent times has to be Ekstroms Red Bull Fabia(05?), even nicer IMO than this years works car, Stohls early season whale and Solbergs expert car very nice also

The recent works Ford schemes have been a mess in my eyes, also Mitsubishi after years of good schemes, what is with the recent efforts, B- must try harder :-)

I love the livery of the old Audi S1 Quattro, retro and old school that is definately cool!!! As well as the Martini liveries throughout the group B era.

Worst would have to be the old citroen group b car that never went any good (base of white with red lettering) and the Citroen Xsara's this year. Gross!

It's worth mentioning, and special credit should be given for the fact that some 70's and 80's works cars had hand painted liveries, and were not covered in lazer etched stickers.

We have the same taste!
I would also like to add the first Peugeot 206 WRC, the white one with the big blue Peugeot logo on the roof and side. Another I just thought about, the Belga and Bastos (both had the same colors) liveries of Snijers, Duez and Droogmans in the mid-80's. They looked good on anything: Porsche 911, 6r4, RS200, RS500, BMW M3.

The 555 Subaru livery has surely been the most effective ever. As designer Peter Stevens said, when Subaru decided to adopt the scheme as its house colours after 555 pulled out, most people continued to think that 555 still sponsored the cars.

The Martini Lancias were certainly memorable, but I don't think they ever really looked smart (apart perhaps on the 037) because the boxy styling of the cars hampered the aesthetics. The various Rothmans liveries on Escorts, Asconas, Mantas, 911s, M3s etc, were probably better in that respect. And very seldom did a Stratos look anything other than stunning.

Least favourites include the horrible Marlboro Peugeots, which looked painfully dull.

Hes had that VK Livery since he had a Group N Evo 7 back in 2003, I love the livery, it's so different to other cars around and it certaintly does the job of attracting peoples attention!

I do like the 97 -> 99 Impreza. Theres is just something about the look of those cars that make them look **** hot.
I dont mind the 06 Focus in BP/Castrol colours, although I dont go much on the look of the car itself. The white Focus with 'RS' printed on it (before Ford picked up the BP and Castrol sponsorship) is also quite good.
And for those Australian fans, Simon Evans' 98 WRX Sti decked out in black and Gray - the hottest car I have ever seen!

I dont like the white/pink/green of the original Subaru Legacy... its just wasnt right.
Oh, and the 'Donut King' sponsored cars entering in Targa Tasmania (a local Tarmac rally for all age of cars). Hot pink with white text = bad!!!

For me the best livery is silver-red Peugeot in 2001-2002, the worst - red Marlboro Peugeot in 2003.

dunno if many people here will know of these but the masport livery escorts that the ford works team had for rally new zealand back in the late 70's. they looked fantastic.

My dad is good mates with Kevin Lancaster. Chris Porter who lives just down the road from me has an old works escort from that era and has rebuilt it back into the masport colours.

Just wish I was able to see that era.. would of been great to see.. Especially from all the stories my dad tells me about the escorts etc. He even has a couple of stories of Pentti :P Like how he insisted on having tubes in the tyres, and how the mags were painted. The tyres kept slipping on the paint causing the valve to break deflating the tyres. My dad had to work through the night replacing all the tyres :P (Story goes along the lines of something like that.. dunno if it was paint on the wheels, but it was something causing the tyres to slip.)

Anyways best livery for me would have to be the Subarus. Its just to reckonisable. I also liked the old works SEAT's.
The mitsubishis in 2000 i think it was where they had the names on the bonnet and rear bumper.

I agree with you there Dingardo, the Subaru livery is very well known worldwide, even by the non rally fan after the 13 years with the blue and yellow 555 colours. And they even kept the colours when BAT stopped their sponsorship for some years...for easy Subaru recognition I suppose!

I agree with you there Dingardo, the Subaru livery is very well known worldwide, even by the non rally fan after the 13 years with the blue and yellow 555 colours. And they even kept the colours when BAT stopped their sponsorship for some years...for easy Subaru recognition I suppose!

Yep, I agree with tribefiend. The first time I saw the WRC Scooby in "Sonic Mica Blue" was in a professional photographic magazine. One photograph of Petter & Phil's Scooby in mid jump during the Rally of New Zealand was enough to get me hooked on rallying and The Subaru World Rally Team.
