Ok still 3 months to go but it's about time to post a couple of news :

Two more stages have been added for a total of 10, and the km against the clock are now 218, with the confirmation of the spectacular and demanding Monte Bignone ronde (44 km) After a couple of years of absence, I will be there again, and I am counting days already :D More news to come as soon as our friend animrallye reads this :p :

Thanks Pino :)
We are preparing the 7th round of IRC which will be held in Sanremo from september 27 to 29.
Official site (in Italian, English and French) : http://acisanremo.it/rallysanremo/
I can confirm Panizzi's participation with a Peugeot 207 S2000 from Racing Lions and another young french driver, Julien Pressac with another 207 S2000 from BSA.
In case of victory, Gilles Panizzi will be the best multi-winner of the rally. Panizzi, Miki Biasion and Didier Auriol won three time Sanremo Rally each.
I'll give you all fresh news ASAP.

hmmm i think that Fiat might use Scandola instead of alen for the s2000...and they may give alen the R Fiat. But since its a local event they might use 3 official cars with Navara-Scandola-Alen we have to wait and see.

I will attend the event the event fot the first time since a very close friend of mine will also comptete in the N3 class i would like some info if possible.

Where should i stay to be both close to the Service park and the stages ?
Which stages should i go for ?
Is there going to be a rally guide with best spots and how to get there ?
Also since i will arrive there by plane...what is the best option go to Milan and then rent a motorbike to arrive in san remo or is there an airport closer ?

Thank you

Go to Nice (not Milan) rent a car/motobike or take the train and you will be in Sanremo in 1 hour. From there you can get to most stages in 30/45 min, so find a cheap accomodation and stay in Sanremo. The technical inspections are scheduled for wednesday evening/thursday morning, just before the shakedown. I am not sure pubblic are allowed to spectated inspections, animrallye will answer that question for you. Best place to go is the lovely village of Bajardo, from there you can walk into the stages in any direction you want ! As usually I will stay there in my sister's house :D

If Alen is nominated for San Remo, we should see the most powerful formation of Fiat ever: Basso - Navarra - Alen. Although the Finn is rookie on the tarmac he has definitely more potencial than Scandola I think.

Pino isn't overdoing it here, Bajardo really is a lovely village! And there are some excellent spectating spots near the village.

It's that my holidays are two weeks before the rally, otherwise I'd have loved to go to the Rallye Sanremo again. It's a great area to stay.

Yes Bajardo is only 2-300 metres from the stages (in the old good days of the Sanremo the drivers used to drive trough the village). BTW I am not sure but I think this year on the amazing and long Ronde stage, (44 km) runned at night, the drivers would do that again :s mokin: Sanremo has plenty hotels but if I were you I would book right away.

See you there then :)

On gravel this year in the 207 S2000 he was also impressive ;)

But the two IRC events he will take part(Sanremo/Valais) are the first tarmac rallies he will run in the 207, so...

Sure Sanremo will be great, with the best of entry list of the season. For me is more important to see the IRC series growing up.

To enter an official S2000 team has not really sense to me as in IRC every better placed car in this group/class in overall standing brings points to the constructor anyway :mark:

I guess Peugeot-Spain would have entered Panizzi for this rally if this was the opposite case :p :

Fiat has got some excellent drivers like Basso, Scandola, Navarra, Travaglia and Loix but what to say about Peugeot and Panizzi, Vouilloz, Ojeda, Rossetti, Perico, maybe Casier, Toth, Pressac or Tirabassi :bounce:

[Madeira-Rally]
21st September 2007, 09:23
I voted Basso :)

This rally have the best entry list of the IRC season, but I'm afraid that the majority of S2000 that will be there can't fight against the best Italian drivers...

To be honest I think that in normal condition the top 10 of the rally will be dominated by Italian drivers... maybe Ojeda, Vouilloz, Panizzi and Loix can be between them, but the others I suppose it will be really difficult.

Let's not forget that Sanremo is a difficult event for foreigners drivers and the level of CIR drivers are very high, the best in Europe!

Mirek

I envy those who will watch it live.

I too agree with Madeira, but we must consider Panizzi an italian, he lives 30 min from these stages and his parents are from Badalucco (a village not far away from Sanremo) So not only he's the best tarmac driver in the entry list, but he also knows these stages like nobody else. It will be an amazing duel between him and Basso :bounce:

N.O.T

On another way, I've learnt in recent news that Honda motorsport' s branch, MUGEN, will help seriously the JAS Motorsport team in preparation of the Civic R3s from Sanremo, so perhaps the Hondas has become very very better in performance/reliability and can challenge the S2000s now ??

I think I dream, here though... :p :

Mirek
26th September 2007, 16:23
Mugen makes only engines and I think than even so far engine was the best on Civic R3. The rest is up to class limitations and for example handling can never be as good as for S1600's.

Except 2 / 3 rallys in Italy the live results don't use to be good... I really hope it work for Sanremo, because it the most important rally in Italy this year... :)

IRC champ, should "buy" the system results that is used in Polish Champ. and would be mandatory to all IRC events use that system, it's the best I have ever seen in all rallys, it's even better than WRC results! It always work and really nice!

Travaglia will run under Abarth colors... maybe it means something :)

In some pictures we can see that is raining in Sanremo...
Basso and Travaglia are very good in wet tarmac.. it won't be asy to follow Basso's pace in this event... and maybe the gap between conventional GR N and S2000 will be lower because of the rain...

According to Claudio from rAllylink... it's starting to rain in SS 2

The times of first stage are a little bit strange...

I think there should be some fog in the stage... because there are big gaps between some drivers that should run very close...

harriswrc

Maybe the gaps are because of the tyre choises. Maybe some drivers put tyres for wet tarmac, so they will be faster in 2nd stage!

What I have seen on euro sport was actual annoying and boring, it seems IRC is a Fiat and Peugeot cup. This goes up exactly the same way as the group N with only Subaru and Mitsubishi cars. Let´s hope there coming next year more brands. There are already many brands presented for S2000 but where are themselves them, VW, Toyota, Skoda, ford, Lada, MG and call on?
Euro sport live gives also only live coverage from service park!

About the car of Tirabassi I don't know how much damaged the car has..

For me Sanremo would be the best rally of IRC, but I have some doubts about it know...

let's see the facts.
- Rally schedule : I don't appreciate this kind of schedule... it's very boring for all... including competitors..
- Internet services: really really bad system...

Rallys like Madeira, Ypres, Barum, haven't the big rally stars as Sanremo, but all this rallys had a nice schedule, and nice Internet services..

To be more precise... to be in IRC the Internet services should be good, if not good, they should receive a penaltie.

Mirek

Madeira-Rally: Maybe the new Honda car is proper R3 and that one before was real A7. That could be the reason, but I'm only guessing...

Today production cars are simply outpaced by S2000's. What a pitty for Ucci :(

Yes... Luca should be in control...

Just a spin or something like that... and you loose too much time...

[Madeira-Rally]
29th September 2007, 13:51
]It could be caused by the fact that today stages are different, the real Sanremo. Many serpentines through mountain passes and of course dry and hot weather.

Let's not forget Ucci run with Pirelli tyres... Pirelli isn't so good as Bfgoodrich on dry tarmac...

Today even Subarus that were outpaced all the year, are beeing much faster than Andreucci... and according to today stage times, Longhi should pass Ucci in the last stage.... It's an inglory finish for Andreucci who was one of the heros of this rally, specially in the first leg.

Great performance by Peugeot in this rally... and great pints fort he Champ...

But I have to say that I'm surprised with Scandola pace... he did a good job...

Ojeda passed Longhi.. and finish the race really close to Ucci...

I don't understand why... but I think Ojeda have a nice pace.. but sometimes his pace his really poor comparing with his team mate...

I don't understand if Ojeda doesn't have pace, or if Ojeda plays always safe...

Anyway, Rosetti is a winner-nice for him and Peugeot Italia.

I still don't understand why he was so much slower. It's not that he is a bad driver. Wonder how good the Punto is and how good the setup was they used. Wonder if team Abarth shares a lot of info with its customers.

I hope Loix will use his Polo next year, just to get another brand in the championship + the Polo has been used a lot on gravel. Loix allready told that when there are too many events or just not enough money he will use a Lancer in some rallys.

Starting with shakedown : We ( PuddleJumper and I ) arrived at the stage a couple of hours before, and after driving the stage a couple of times we parked our car on the junction to Perinaldo and walked down to the start. From there (http://www.powerphoto.co.uk/rally/irc2007/rd7/sd/index.html) we were able to both talk (me) to the driver/codrivers and take (PuddleJumper) good pictures as you can see from the above link. Just before the rain came we moved to the first hairpin, and that was a great move because some drivers were very spectaculary there. Just before the end of the session we decided to leave in order to reach Baiardo in time for a great lunch, buy some sandwiches for next day and check into my sister cottage.

1st Leg : Thanks to our media-pass we were allowed to walk into the stage and stay any place we wanted and our choice was the penultimate hairpin (http://www.powerphoto.co.uk/rally/irc2007/rd7/ss2/index.html) before the end, from where we both could see cars heading to Apricale from Perinaldo and hear them coming from Apricale to Baiardo. That's one of the best spot I've ever been in my long Rallying experience

After having another great dinner, again we (this time my Brother joined us) walked on the stage and took place into the last hairpins, it was ok until a couple of drunk people came and spoiled everything for us. Fortunatelly the marshalls kept situation under controls, eventhough were not able to remove them from the photographers area. After some passes we decided to move up into the jump that enters you in Baiardo. Indeed that was a very exciting spot because the cars were coming very fast, and we really could see who had talent, and who hadn't. After watching a dozen passes we went to bed.

Got up at 9, had a nice breakfast and started to drive the stage from Passo Ghimbegna to San Romolo. Everything was ok until we found a nice downhill-turn and tried to park the car near there. For the first time I got mad at some marshalls, because they didn't want me to park the car on the stage, they tried to make me drive off the stage eventhough we had permission to stay. Had to discuss with one of them until the safety car arrived and told him that our car was in a safer place. Anyway we managed to reach that turn just before the classic cars arrived. IRC/Eurosport TV cameraman was there (http://www.powerphoto.co.uk/rally/irc2007/rd7/ss6/index.html) too :p : Watched all the car from there and then went to Sanremo to Service Area and to get a well deserved big ice-cream :lips:

Leg 2 : Many choices were to go but we decided for the amazing u-turn at San Bernardino di Conio. We picked up my Brother and his friend and got there 2 hours before the 1st pass. Watched some Group B like Stratos Alitalia, RS 200, Audi Quattro, Renault 5 Turbo, and a Porsche 911 driving in a great way...We stayed ther for both passes, 1st one in the outside (http://www.powerphoto.co.uk/rally/irc2007/rd7/ss7/index.html) 2nd pass on the inside (http://www.powerphoto.co.uk/rally/irc2007/rd7/ss9/index.html) As we wanted to be in Sanremo for at the podium ceremony we only watched first 30 cars of the 2nd pass, and despite some traffic we managed that. Spendt the rest of the day at the Service Area, talking to many drivers and codrivers : It was great to say hello to both Guido d'Amore and Giovanni Bernacchini, not to mention Basso, and our great friend and forum member animrallye who he's among the Organizators of Sanremo :s mokin:

That's all from me, hopefully everyone is able to understand my italian-english ;)
