Rounds 6&7 of the Australian Superbike Championship will take place this weekend at Queensland Raceway.

This will conducted as a double header on Saturday and Sunday.

Jamie Stauffer (Yamaha) has a strong lead in the championship of 50 points over Yamaha team mate and brother Dan Stauffer. Ten points further adrift is Suzuki's Craig Coxhell and 6 points behind him is Honda privateer (factory teamster from last year) Glenn Allerton.

The racing should be close this weekend at the track affectionately known as the paperclip.

Kawasaki pairing Shannon Johnson and Wayne Maxwell (currently 5th in the championship) will be looking for podium results as the Green machine becomes more competitive with each outing. Anthony Gobert has had an ordinary season on his private ZX10R entry.

Look for Jamie to wrap the championship up early before heading to the Suzuka 8 hour to partner Norick Abe.

MV Augusta are making their first appearance in the championship with one time 500cc rider Brendan Clarke.

There has also been an immediate change to the regulations to allow Ducati's 1098 to compete in the remainder of the series but not score points. As yet there is no entry from Ducati but it is looking good for 2008.

JS is certainly doing the business - again.

Great to see MV coming in and also to see the 1098 getting a run (although I'm still a bit dubious about the whole parity thing).

So where's Russell Holland in the general scheme of things?

Holland was in the 9's in free practice yesterday, I can only asume it is weather related.

Good to see the Ducati's allowed in, i'd love to see a return of the old Ducati Dealer Team :)

How are these 'double header' rounds working out?

The double headers are great value for both competitors and spectators. I went to the DH at Winton and it was fantastic. You could camp at the circuit if you chose.

From a racing point of view some teams performed better on the Sunday having learnt a few things on the Saturday.

Goo Cannonball Coxhell! Hopefully he gets another chance on the world stage soon, to do what he's doing in his first year back is a great effort! .. This young talent is surely one to watch?
