A computer error omitted one point for fastest lap therefore total points 150 and now gives him lead in championship.

He said he preferred to be the hunter rather than the hunted, but Fabrizio Giovanardi is now the man to beat in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after series organisers announced that the Italian's points tally was incorrect following a computer error.

The error meant that the VX Racing driver wasn't given an additional bonus point for setting the equal fastest lap time with Mike Jordan during the second race of the weekend at Oulton Park, a race that saw Giovanardi lose out on victory by just 0.046secs.

With the extra point in place, Giovanardi now holds a single point lead over Jason Plato heading to the next three races at Donington Park next month.

Thats great news! Still very tight at the top though but Giovanardi seems to be doing better than Jason.

Yes he was technically ahead of Plato on wins and would have carried maximum ballast at Donington whatever! First time a foreign driver has led the championship since Muller in...2004? Or did he lead at any point in 05?

You would have to say the start of the year is where SEAT should have made points up on everyone. Any you would expect the rest to catch up once they had developed their cars a bit...but is there any stopping VX now?! SEAT didn't have such a great time at Donny last year, maybe Gio will pull away from JP further.

And don't forget Giovanardi loves Knockhill too

That is brilliant news! Fabrizio is looking so strong this year, it should be a good battle with him and Jason as JP won't give up!
