A word for someone who didn't get a mention during the Free Practice 2. He missed Croft and where did Adam Jones come in his Team Air Cool Toledo? 11th! Better than one of the stars of the season for me lower down...Gareth Howell.

Surely that is something of an achievement, don't you think?

Good laps by Colin Turkington and Gordon Shedden. Great to see Adam Jones back, hopefully he'll have a trouble-free run this weekend. Pinkney appears to be improving, only just behind the Motorbase SEATs. Also a decent time for Simon Blanckley. Feel really sorry for Nick Leason coming down with an illness.

Plato fifth. Wonder when he gets the new Seat engine?

Correct me if i am wrong (which i am sure you will) but the new seat engine is for the wtcc only instead of their 25kg weight reduction so no new engine for plato. 5th is good with max ballast lets hope he gets good points this weekend.

well done rick kerry looks a lot more competitive

But more importantly just behind the man behind Neal, Darren Turner, is Jase and Fab. With Jase leading the championship, albeit by only 2pts, could perhaps we be looking at a start that will play into Fab's hands as Jase just in front will have full Championship ballast and with the Leon not the fastest of cars of the start?

Good to see Jason up there again in his MG. Shame Fiona can't quite match his pace. Adam Jones did well after such a long break too. Should make for some top racing.
Who's missing then?
Eoin Murray, Nick Leason and Im sure there is someone else?!

Plato 7th so Gio should lead championship by 6 points now!! :D

Also Turner retired, what happened?!

Great maiden win for Mat Jackson! He stormed through from the second row of the grid to first place and never looked like giving it up despite pressure from Jason Plato. The SEAT simply couldn't live with the BMW's pace on the straights.

Adam Jones had a fine return to the series, if he can iron out those little mistakes (like that which cost him a place to Plato in race three) then he'll be getting podiums for sure. Mike Jordan also had a good weekend.

Several big crashes for smaller teams. Motorbase had both cars in the tyres at least Allison was able to salvage a good finish in the 2nd and 3rd races. Dave Pinkney looked to have got together with Darren Turner in race 1 and then Simon Blanckley in race 2. The Kartworld MGs also took a bit of pounding too. Chris Stockton was pretty fast (5th in race 3 at one point) but got no points to show for it but that Lexus is improving all the time now.

Giovanardi and Plato tied at the top of the championship and seven different winners in 15 races, things are looking good for the second half of the season.

24th June 2007, 18:29
Congratulations to Mat and his team!
Stockton put on another fine display, but was unlucky. Excellent drives from Jordan and Jones, too.
What was Blanckley doing at the start in race 2? I don't know but it took a fair few cars out!

nicemms
24th June 2007, 18:49
Well done to Mat Jackson and his team. He made a fantastic start and had a superb race from there on in, even with Jase' behind him! Very few or no errors from him, just brilliant.

Adam Jones did well, especially since the toldedo is an older car.

Shedden did well in the civic, two nice moves on Onslow Cole. They certainly have done well with the Civic at Team Dynamics. Just a shame Neal went off, taking Giovanrdi and Turkington with him and almost Jordan!

BDunnell
24th June 2007, 19:41
I can only echo the comments about Jackson. Really glad to see him getting a win, especially because it wasn't an entirely straightforward one. Great stuff.

But how unlucky is Chris Stockton? He obviously has to defend quite a lot when he gets into good positions, because the Lexus still looks like it lacks a bit of speed, but even so he doesn't deserve to get pushed off quite so often. He deserves some strong points finishes between now and the end of the season because he clearly has great pace himself. Pinkney looked quicker than before, prior to his accidents, and Mike Jordan can count himself unlucky not to have got a bit more out of the weekend, too. He really does look more competitive in the Integra than he did last year, which surprises me.

For those that missed out... Incidents:

Race 1: Pinkney & Turner have a coming together on the way to Island Hairpin, not sure what exactly happened but pinkney crabs the car back home with a broken track rod, and turners car had a broken front suspension.
Allison has a moment coming through druids, and slams into the tyre wall, heavy damage.

Race 2 start.. Blanckley turns into Pinkney just before the turn into the first corner, pinkney spins, collects hughes, pinkneys car heavily damaged, the front right wheel torn off, and damage to the rear aswell, hughes quite badly damaged too, Erkut crashed aswell so probably got caught up in it somewhere as he took out the camera man! On the restard Howell over cooks it and also crashes at lodge, hitting the wall side on and battering yet another Toledo.

Race 3: Matt Neal spins after trying to pass plato on the first corner, has a tank-slapper, collects turkington, and forces Jodan to swerve out the way which put Giovanardi in the barriers. Neal retires after, and Colin ended up in the gravel as his car was steering itself. Giovanardi comes in after a couple of laps as the radiator had gone. Jordan continues with bent rear upright/suspension and finished in the points.

Race 3: Matt Neal spins after trying to pass plato on the first corner, has a tank-slapper, collects turkington, and forces Jodan to swerve out the way which put Giovanardi in the barriers.

I may get corrected, but rather than spinning I got the impression Neal was tapped by Plato, and on correctinh himself toavoid the grass hit Turks through no fault of his own.

Overall, an exciting weekend, but largely due to the large number of incidients due to the wet weather, but with some good overtaking moves,
especially Shedden on Turks twice..! Definitely looks like a two horse race now for the championship, I think sadly Matt is out of it, if he had nailed a win or two he might still have had a look-in.

MBailey06
24th June 2007, 21:34
If Plato and Gio have a bad weekend at Donnington and Neal or Turkington win 2 of the 3 races then maybe they would be in the title fight, but otherwise no.

Got some good video coverage though.

Overall it was a good event. Watched race 1 at Knickerbrook, race2 at Clay Hill and race 3 at Old Hall. Saw Neal get his tank slapper and collect Turkington. The some good racing throughout the field, Erkut and Leggate, Stockton and Bell. Kerry's BMW looked a bit more on the pace, faster than Pocklington. The Alfa's looked fast but Pinkney didn't get any luck. Marsh overtook a few cars in race 3 and was looking like he would pass Bell for 10th before he retired.

What a great day out, My first Touring Car event and it's certainly better than watching it on tv.

Brilliant race from Matt to hold off Plato in the 3rd race, the second was a bit of a letdown as the safety car did as many laps. But all in all a cracking day out and will definately be back next year. :D

Watched the first on Clay Hill near the bridge, second at Cascades, and the third at Knickerbrook.

Are we certain it was Simon Blanckley's fault? The ITV camera position was too far away to tell and ITV only gave Pinkney's side of the story.

It was a six of one, half a dozen of the other incident. Both drivers were dicing for position in a tight pack heading for the first corner and they got tangled up, its just a shame it was in the way they did. Had it been dry, the impact with the wall probably wouldn't have been as bad as it was.

First time to Oulton Park. We arrived on friday and camped for the weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday were brilliant. Shame that the safety car was out for so long on race 2. Watched first race from knickerbrook and that other 2 from Druids. All three results were good. Excellent to see Matt win his first race.

Will definitely go again next year, however, may have to take the kids next time.

Now looking forward to snetterton, which is the next race weekend we are going to and again we will be camping.
