I had a root around & found out a few things of who the subs are for the drivers!

Double-Duty Drivers: The distance between The Milwaukee Mile and Infineon Raceway will keep J.J. Yeley from maintaining his full-time status in the NASCAR Busch Series. Instead, Johnny Benson will drive the No. 1 Miccosukee Resorts Chevrolet at Milwaukee. Additionally, P.J. Jones will drive David Reutimann’s No. 00 Toyota and Klaus Graf is scheduled to drive Mike Bliss’ No. 49 Chevrolet at Infineon this weekend as the two focus on their Busch machines. Carl Edwards will have Janesville, Wis., native Travis Kvapil on hand to practice his No. 60 Ford while Erik Darnell will do the same for David Ragan (No. 6 Discount Tire Ford.) Last year’s Busch Pole winner, Aric Almirola, will shake down the No. 20 Rockwell Automation Chevrolet for Denny Hamlin. The sub for Dave Blaney will be announced later this week. (partial, NASCAR PR) Note: Scott Lagasse will hop behind the wheel of the 41 in place of David Stremme who has driven the last two standalones for the team. Lagasse will be making his first Busch start since he ran the Pikes Peak event in July of 2005. And, Marcos Ambrose is set to also pull the long distance double and make his Nextel Cup debut. this is from BGNracing site the same as the other one!

Ambrose 'Excited' and 'Privileged' To Be In The Busch Series

Don’t let Marcos Ambrose’s laid back personality and charming accent fool you. This guy’s a racer to the core.

From early dreams of racing F1 machines in England to claiming back-to-back V8 Supercar Championships in his native Australia, Ambrose has worked his way to the United States to take on its highest form of auto racing.

After tallying pole awards and contending finishes in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2006, it’s evident he was just getting warmed up. After 16 races and a strong eighth place showing in the point standings, it looks as though the Australian is successfully adding the Busch Series to his list of accomplishments. (Read More)

This week he’ll balance his duties behind the wheel of his No. 59 Ford Fusion in tandem with his Nextel Cup debut on the road course in Sonoma, California.

“It’s difficult to do the Cup deal, it’s taking our focus away from the Busch side. But I think it’s real important for me to land in my first Cup race and do reasonably well. I’m a road course racer that’s what I grew up doing," Ambrose explains.

Sure the long-distance haul this weekend may be a battle but competition-wise, Ambrose will be fine.

“It’s really tricky. We’re all about performance but there are logistics to worry about. You have to balance all of that out.

& here is what he has to say about the team aussie aspect!

Ambrose adds that while he would never turn down an opportunity to move to Cup, be it this season, next, or sometime down the road, he says his quick extension to NASCAR's top level stems from a simple desire to continue to nurture his long-running relationship with Team Australia. They will also attempt the Cup event in Watkins Glen together.

"I feel like it’s something we need to do for Team Australia to keep those guys in the loop. Last year they had the whole truck and we kind of kicked them off to do the Kingsford stuff. They want to have some presence to keep them alive. It's important to do it. It's an important run for me. I'm excited to do the Cup stuff but I am really excited to be in the Busch Series."

Sounds like a good idea!

Anyone else notice the Monster listed as a sponsor for Robby Gordon. I wonder if they finally got that deal done?

Haven't seen anything on his website or Jayski about it.

I keep hearing that there are no problems and haven't been with Monster or it's sponsorship of Robby Gordon Motorsports. It's curious that they haven't been on the #7 car prior to Infineon but I'm not too worried about it.

It was my understanding they were supposed to be on the car at Las Vegas, the crew was in Monster Uniforms no less, but lawyers hung up the contract. To date there hasn't been any sort of formal announcement which races Monster will be the primary on.

I did hear about LV but nothing about what went down. Maybe there will be some sort of announcement at Sonoma. It's very odd regardless.

Supposedly there was a conflict with his schedule. Cripes, it isn't as if he didn't know what the schedule was.

I heard that Ambrose couldn't get a sponsor onboard for Infineon.

It was nothing to do with no sponsor. this is from his site

Milwaukee is a different sort of race track to what we normally run,” said Ambrose.

“It’s very flat and it’s quite a unique place. The entire venue has lots of tradition but from a driver and team’s point of view it the challenge of setting the cars up that takes most of our attention.

“It was a tough decision not to race in Sonoma, but I am completely behind the rescheduling.

“In one respect it’s obviously unfortunate that we will not run the Aussie Vineyards Ford Fusion at Infineon. We had a really positive test a couple of weeks ago and had a car prepared that was capable of doing a really good job.

“But we really need to focus on our Busch team and doing the best for our sponsors. We are an emerging team that likes to do things right, so this is the best way to go.

“Milwaukee is a tough place to set up the car and handling is very important there on such flat corners. Without much banking you’ve really got to have a well handing race car to make sure you are able to carry good speed through the corners.

“It’s important to get the set-up right to run well there. We will be pushing to keep the current momentum going this weekend, because this team is really doing a great job at the moment with both our Busch Series cars.”

but he def will be at Watsons Glen,

this is what he said about that race!

With Ambrose positioned well inside the NASCAR Busch Series top 10 and the Raybestos Rookie of the Year title within reach, it has been decided to delay the talented Australian’s Nextel Cup debut until August 12 at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York.

The Watkins Glen event will be better suited for Ambrose to pull ‘double duty’ and race both Busch and Cup races, with both events at the same circuit that weekend. This also allows for pit crew and personnel to assist both entries.

Ambrose’s schedule for this weekend, with Race 17 of the NASCAR Busch Series at the Milwaukee Mile in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Cup race in Sonoma, California some 2150 miles away, would have seen Ambrose miss all of practice and qualifying for the Busch event and only fly in for the race on Saturday night.

Ambrose will still head to Sonoma for some pre-event sponsorship appearances for Aussie Vineyards and Raley’s Supermarkets – with both brands set to be highlighted on the #60 car of road racing specialist Boris Said in this weekend’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway.

Every revhead was going to be clued to a set this weekend in OZ & there were going to be big b-b-ques going on , they will have to hold off to August now! There would have been a lot of Monday sickies seeing that it would have been realy Monday morning here!

That is sweet. I love the black and neon green combo. I got myself a Monster H-3 Dakar t-shirt and Monster trophy truck t-shirt at Pocono a few weeks ago. Maybe his hauler will add a new shirt for the August race. You can never have too many t-shirts. ;)

Bit of an exaggeration!!. Marcos at the moment is "out of sight, out of mind" for most racegoers in Australia. Nonetheless he appears to be gaining momentum in the Busch series..

There's no exaggeration there Robert , all the papers in the last few weeks & the tv here were all getting on the bandwagon to see how he stacked up against the cup drivers in the race. They will all have to wait for The Glen now to see him do battle with them!

It sure would have been a hard thing for Gorrie to take though! HE WAS HOPPING TO SELL MORE AUSSIE WINE OVERE THERE, & showing the green & gold colours in the race would have been a sponsors dream!

Just think of the spin off the race would have generated in Merchandise for them!

Tassidevil..what country do you live in? In cannot be Australia, there has been NO info on Marcos in Sydney. A case of out of sight out of mind. I think it would apply across the country. Try doing an RSS feed , you will find there is precious little about him from the local papers.

Now Robert, we all know the role Marcos has in the world of Australian racing.....but if he did win a NASCAR event, I suspect he will be the flavour of the month and then some down under. I know when a Canadian does well in racing, the mainstream media in Canada realizes there is something to that racing thing....

Mark, it does not quite work that way in Australia. If we have no interest in the Sport, then there is some limited and muted praise(Like someone doing well in Baseball). Marcos winning a Nextel Cup race would make the sports pages in Australia, a larger article in the Motorsport press, then he would be forgotten till his next triumph. Check the RSS News feed on Google for Marcos Ambrose, you will find a lot of articles from the US media but not all that many from the Australian side of things. In many cases it is a small article in the Sports pages. A case of out of sight out of mind.

I know you live in Sydney, that could be the problem that you have not seen all the articles & write ups that the Herald Sun Cars divition in victoria has on him every week. This week he has half of a page dedicated to why he didn't do the road course race, & all in colour , we all know that sydney is allways behind what Melbourne does, we are the leaders in most things. You guys is sydney might not think he is big nwes but in Melbourne he is allways in the news!

I can tell you that if he won a race in bucsh he would be on all the chanells here
