This a return to the scene of by TR3 debut. i managed to finish 2nd only 2 seconds behind Vuko. I'm aiming for the win this time though ;)

hey that was my first touring car race too! I had done some British GT series races prior to that though.
In that DTM race I finished 9th, 36 1/2 seconds behind Vuko.
so what's that tell me? that I'm a MUCH better learner than you! because just look at how much I've improved since then! HA!

Just took the Merc for a quick spin at EuroSpeedway & blew my best time away from last year - a 59.59s breaking the 1m barrier! It's the fastest non cheat time on Codies at the moment. I noticed J.Shell's time 1m.01.76 & J.B's 1m.01.89. Looking forward to see what Piotr can do - he's been very quick in qualifying with these cars.

yeah an official extension would be cool... I don't have the resources to hop back & forth from Belgium to Germany all weekend.
anyone know how far apart the tracks are anyway?

wow, I don't even remember that! must be from last year's race. gosh, it'll be interesting to see what I can do this year!
p.s. I guuess I didn't HAVE to leave in the part of Vuko's quote about JB's time, did I?

Free Practice Update
1)P.Vuko.....00:59.59
2)J.Brown....00:59.63
3)J.Shell......01:01.76
What were you saying johnny?
If I knew I was only 4hundrenths of a second off Vuko's time I would have extended my practice. I was up by 2 tenths in the first sector on one lap but blew it in the final complex.

According to Googlemaps about 750km(469miles) or about a 6 hour drive on the Autobahns

Yes, but Eurospeedway it's not a good track for me bacause setup is so important in this track. I do my best as always :) .
One guy form Poland (not Sloma) did 0'58.42 in this track. Do you think that this time is possible?

wow that's some cool ****. I didn't know you all had google maps too!
I sure hope to make a trip like that one day. starting in Belgum would be fine, but I don't know if Eurospeedway is where I would want to end up. Maybe another German track, or Silverstone, or something.
Brown, Jon Brow
19th June 2007, 15:55
It's only 80miles from Spa to the Nordschleife. Now that would be a trip, especially if you had an Aston DB9, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti or other kind of Grand Tourer ;)
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=Eurospeedway,+germany&daddr=spa,+belgium&sll=50.55707,5.836487&sspn=0.341131,0.933838&ie=UTF8&ll=49.922935,10.151367&spn=5.531305,14.941406&t=h&z=6&om=1
Going from Spa to Silverstone would be ruined by having to get the ferry or train through the Channel Tunnel, you would also have the problem of driving a right hand drive car on the wrong side of the road or vice versa, because like you americans, the continental Europeans stupidly drive on the wrong side of the road

well look at that! the road goes with through the water!
I would rent my car in europe instead of england for sure then. I don't mind in the V8 cars when they switch me to the other side of the car in cockpit view because my pedals are still in the right place and I'm paddle shifting.
I wouldn't want to drive with the pedals backwards & the shifter on my left.
is that why you use a hand pad? because you don't like the pedals the american way? or do you & the aussies get your own special pedals?
Brown, Jon Brow
19th June 2007, 20:07
What? Do you use the left peddle for the gas? Maybe you should get an automatic johnny!
We still accelerate with our right foot and clutch with our left foot (and sometimes break with the left foot!)
I find having the gear stick on the left side of the car helps, as I'm right handed I keep my right hand on the wheel.(I'm better steering right handed than left handed)
Anyway, I thought everyone in the states drives autos?

Does anyone have a spare steering wheel?
I just found out that it is impossible to as fast as the best guys who use a steering wheel over a controller.

Completed our race-had to do so a bit premature as I'll be without the X Box from tomorrow until the deadline
Really never felt really good with the setup. Missed apexes routinely, and went onto the grass twice on lap 10. Fun track! Some US oval managers would be wise to take note of this track layout. Far more exciting than Daytona...
Still hope to nab a point for the O marque :D

I had a pretty poor race. My fastest lap was slower than last years and I got held up by traffic :( :bigcry:
johnny shell
28th June 2007, 14:11
my fast lap was decent but I had a tough time too.
I didn't test much here and was having to practice, qualify, & do the race all at once.
I had a real hard time consistantly hitting the right line on several corners and was a second or more below my potential on most laps due to driving in too hard, drifting wide, then not being able to get back on the gas soon enough.
I'm only expecting points if there's a low turn out this round.
tannat's right though- for an oval's infield road course, this is a hell of a track!

they've tracked the ISP to a butcher shop "1/2 way between Lancaster", whatever that means.............

congradulation JB. beating Piotr AND Peter in the fastest cars we race in.... no small accomplishment! that's just the ultimate shabang. that's all there is to it.
quite a battle we had, hey r_i? got you in qualifying and set the faster lap - but it's how long it takes us to do 14 laps, not one.
and you did your 14 laps .13 of a second quiker than I did mine!
if I only hadn't drove into the corners so hard & drifted wide at the apex....
and I'm going to keep saying that until I stop doing it!
