So, I'm watching this kid get interviewed during the rain delay, and I'm thinking "damn this guy looks familiar..." OK, so then I see some post-race stuff on FSN and I realize, "wait a minute, this is the kid who played Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 3" The ESPN movie on Dale Earnhardt for those who haven't seen it. I'm pretty sure, but I googled it to make sure I wasn't crazy, sure enough, it was him.
Anyone else notice this?
Not a bad first start/run 25th in a Petty car your first time in Cup. I guess he's either halfway decent, or that movie really helped his career. No truth to the rumor that Barry Peppers will be driving the #8 car for DEI in 2008...

The young guy did very well in his first race and Pocono isn't the easiest track to drive. Kyle seems to think highly of him. I wish him the best.

According to Chad he signed up for the movie to give his racing career a shot in the arm. I think he's somebody to keep an eye on. Kyle was very complimentary of him. I wish Chad the best.

Chad's won two ARCA races this year, Nashville, and Pocono.

He's also been racing full time in the Craftsman Truck Series this year. He had to skip Texas in order to race at Pocono.

Chad kept his nose clean and ran pretty competatively. A good start, just a shame he isn't doing a few more races although Andretti will also do a good job in the #45.

I think that Petty Enterprises has found their replacement driver for when Kyle answers the total call of broadcasting.

I think he should do well just becase of that great hillbilly sounding name.
And yes, one of the TV shows mentioned the movie, and showed a clip. How cool is that.

This is one of the chief problems with Petty Enterprises: the lack of suitable driver development program. Richard's promise to never run with an alcohol sponsor means no Busch series. This is an integral piece of the puzzle, that they are ignoring. Arca and truck are fine, but they don't quite prepare you for the speed/distance/competition level of the big cars...
