This is just for fun, but I thought I wanted to compare the recent WRC champions with other champions in the other FIA/FIM big classes. So please don’t take it for more than a little fun with numbers….

Winning % out entered rallies/races:

1. Valentino Rossi has entered 114 MotoGP/500cc races and won 58 = 50.9%
2. Sebastian Loeb has entered 70 Group A8 WRC Rallies and won 28 = 40.0%
3. Michael Doohan entered 139 MotoGP/500cc races and won 54 = 38.8%
4. Michael Schumacher entered 250 F1 races and won 91 = 36.4%
5. Ayrton Senna entered 162 F1 races and won 41 = 25.3%
6. Marcus Grönholm has entered 131 Group A8 WRC Rallies and won 25 = 19.1%
7. Fernando Alonso has entered 88 F1 races and won 15 = 17.0%
8. Petter Solberg has entered 108 Group A8 WRC Rallies and won 13 = 12.0%
9. Richard Burns entered 100 Group A8 WRC Rallies and won 10 = 10.0%
10. Nicky Hayden has entered 65 MotoGP races and won 3 = 4.6%

Podium % out entered rallies/races:

1. Valentino Rossi has entered 114 MotoGP/500cc races and been on the podium 91 times = 79.8%
2. Michael Doohan entered 139 MotoGP/500cc races and been on the podium 95 times = 68.3%
3. Sebastian Loeb has entered 70 Group A8 WRC Rallies and been on the podium 47 times = 67.1%
4. Michael Schumacher entered 250 F1 races and been on the podium 154 times = 61.6%
5. Ayrton Senna entered 162 F1 races and been on the podium 80 times = 49.4%
6. Fernando Alonso has entered 88 F1 races and been on the podium 37 times = 42.0%
7. Marcus Grönholm has entered 131 Group A8 WRC Rallies and been on the podium 49 times = 37.4%

You are right, how could I forget him. Does anyone have the stats for him?

Not rteally fair at all when you consider guys like Gronholm made appearances in lesser A8 cars before they got a proper break than others like Loeb who's been in a top team since the word go. Same with Rossi. He's been in a top team ever since he came from 250's

you know what loeb said, it is harder to be a champion for rally than f1. i won't dispute that, but they are two different sports.

it is extremely difficult to win 50% of rally you enter, that is an impossible feat.


what i would like to see is how well some driver do when they convert sport. i'm counting on loeb to win le mans 2007.

Grönholm has been in a top team since 2000 when he took the title and Loeb did his first WRC rally in citroen in San Remo 2001 was it
