View Full Version : Graffiti in London

You'd be forgiven for thinking there's an outbreak of graffiti in London over the next few months as the new Olympic 2012 logo gets plastered everywhere.

On the news this morning all manner of people were promising something new and exciting, but it appears they've let a teenager with an aerosol loose on the side of a tube train :s

Fills you with pride, doesn't it, that logo? :erm:

A foolish, foolish decision. Nu-Rave will be forgotten by 2008, let alone 2012, so that logo is going to look dated.

Mark

It looks dated now :s . It looks like it was desgined by a blind man, who's taken far too many drugs :s

Haha...

It smacks of a desperation to appeal to young people. Apparently they are also getting Dizzee Rascal to rap a new National Anthem (God Save Our Posh & Becks), and they'll be using the end of a spliff to light the Olympic Torch.

Well at least they're doing something, because with five years to go, there's still bugger all building work been done.

They've used all the budget on the logo.

Expect somebody to use the Freedom of Information Act to discover exactly what that abomination cost us taxpayers.

I support the Olympics, but this logo is just an expensive waste of ink. I've seen it in a few different colour schemes now and it still looks like the work of a 14-year old with an ASBO.

That really is hideous. Presumably that hip dude Lord Coe thinks it looks cool. They would have been better off with a Magic Eye drawing.

Maybe it's just my dirty mind but it looks like a woman with big hair on the right hand side bent down giving a man head

Fantastic. That will now be what I see every time I look at that logo.

What was wrong with this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/fr/1/10/London2012.png

Simple but effective.

I think what was wrong with it will have been the fact that its creation did not involve the hiring of some forward-looking creative design consultants with great experience in the delivery of synergy-based solutions for the 21st century in which the relevant stakeholders are able to engage themselves following roll-out.

I've just read how much it cost, and inspired by that designed my own Olympic logo:

Okay so the new logo is a bit pants and already has it's detractors but I'll tell you something for nothing, it's a damn site better than that Chinese one.
I looked at it after I came out of the pub on Saturday night and half an hour later I had to go back and look at it again.

The report on Radio 1 was quite funny. They weren't happy with it and to top it off, a patronising interview with Lord Coe talking to the yuff public, their words not mine.

The report on Radio 1 was quite funny.

Scott Mills described it as Lisa Simpson doing something unspeakable.

Somehow, the swastika looks far less threatening in purple. If only the Nazis had rebranded it in that way, they could have saved themselves a whole lot of trouble.

Dave B
5th June 2007, 12:55
That's where the Nazi party went wrong, really. Lack of image consulants and spin doctors :p

How about:

When I saw the promotional video last night, I thought it looked like the opening titles of a children's TV programme! Dreadful, just dreadful. I also noticed that, as far as I could see, there were no actual Olympic buildings to be viewed in the footage. Presumably the inclusion of the designs was viewed as 'not vague and b****cky enough'.

This one was sent into the BBC website, and I think it's quite clever

Apparently the animated, all singing all dancing version of the logo has been withdrawn due to the fact that it has caused 12 people to have epileptic seizures.
Make that 13.
Last night Mrs Oaf withdrew to the sala de banho for her weekly bubble bath where she likes to relax by watching TV and flicking condoms at the roller blind.
Shortly after a news bulletin which featured footage of the feverishly gyrating logo I heard a tremendous kerfuffle coming from within the bathroom. As I burst in I couldn't help but notice that Mrs O was in the advanced stages of a violent fit and was thrashing around like Paris Hilton in the communal prison showers :(
Naturally I was immediately galvanised into taking remedial action and quickly threw the weeks laundry in with her.
I'm a cruel man.....................but scrupulously clean

Dave B
6th June 2007, 09:25
I've just heard that on Wogan's esteemed radio show. Only yesterday the organisers were defending the logo saying it was best viewed online so you could appreciate the animation, now it turns out to trigger seizures in some epileptics!

You couldn't make it up. And nor would you want to.

I read on wikipedia that the organsiers are considering changing the logo on the next 5 years, but then it was written in French so I'm probably wrong

I wouldn't be surprised if nothing much is said for about a year then the logo is quietly dropped.
