Unless he gets caught refueling with jet fuel during the race sunday ;)

Toyota must have hit on something with their new engine & chassis package.

Yeah, i spoke with a Waltrip engineer at length last week during the 600 week. He said that the new spec toyota engine has a flatter torque curve. he said that when dynoed at atlanta the current toyota cup engine was within 5 horsepower of the engine of Jimmie Johnson, but the toyota was at max power close to 10 000 rpm, whereas the chevy was at max power between 7000 and 8000 rpm, providing much more usable power.

very interesting conversation. he said that the motors for waltrip come from TRD, and are entirely installed and maintained by TRD engineers, and that MWR engineers arent allowed to touch them. this is apparently unique to waltrip racing, red bull and bill davis do their own engines.

also he confirmed that waltrip pays back napa $300 000 for every missed race.

I don't think so on engines.

But Mikey seems to have learned what patience and development means -- he knows this season could be a season of the proverbial Job, and at the end of the book, Job isn't just restored, he is much better than he was at the start, despite losing nearly everything.

Patience is a virtue, and it seems the boys from High Point, Toyota's "works" engine plant, has found it.

Aw forgot about Elliott and his champ provisional. Don't know how Wood Brothers expect to get back in Top 35 they are miles out and it' not like they'll be getting Top 10 results.
