Tunes of ice cream vans

In Sydney its Greensleeves for our Ice Cream vans, the Mr whippee vans. Outside of Australia, are the tunes played any differently?

Our only ice cream van (I remember the days when had 3 different vans visiting in a day!) plays Greensleeves too. Occasionally, we get a whipped ice cream van visiting and it plays TV themes. :D

Funnily enough there's an ice cream van outside my London residence right now giving it the big 'un with Greensleeves.
My old mum always used to tell us kids that when the ice cream man played his jingle it meant that he'd run out :(

I wonder if anyone can answer the question as to why Greensleeves started out being used as the music?
